If that was made in China, the OP and his gf would be dead by now. Since the OP's still posting, it means no anthrax powder was hidden in the glass cutting board.

That's wild ... my glass cutting board (that we don't really use) ... has contact paper on the back, so I guess it if broke it wouldn't shit all over the kitchen.

glass is bad for knives, ditch it!

Yeah it dulled them pretty bad ... so we don't use it 🙂

All products made in China are made out of lead and melamine, duh.

yep. tempered glass can behave strangely. It's kinda badass actually.

The coffe table they made on TimeWarp was cool.
You get 3 panes of tempered glass, layer them, tape or frame them together, then with a hammer and nail, you hit the nail on the edge of the middle pane and it will spiderweb the whole middle pane, while the top and bottom pane remain intact, you get the broken glass look, but no mess and not risk to cutting yourself.

as per the original topic. There was a defect or chip in the glass that caused this. Glass is a liquid and it does move around. the defect in the glass, be it a chip, deep scratch ect, caused it to expand and the resulting explosion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you shouldn't use wooden cutting boards (or utensils, spoons, etc.) because they are a breeding ground for germs because you can never truly clean them. Imagine you throw a gooey raw chicken on that cutting board. The bacteria penetrates the wood and is impossible to clean out. From then on all the food you place on it get contaminated with microscopic chicken bacteria.

lol

Bacteria aren't magical creatures that can live in any environment.

They would only survive on the surface of a cutting board for minutes, hours max.

I work in a glassware factory and the tempered stuff is crazy sometimes. It its not tempered properly, they will literally explode coming down the lehr. Sometimes they don't get any or enough spray wax on them as they're coming out and just barely rub each other they just POP! and crumble in your hands. And when a fresh one thats' unstable hits the floor accidently, it freakin sounds like a shotgun blast. Part of the reason safety glasses are mandatory there.

I am surprised they would make a tempered glass cutting board. You would think knives going across it all the time would make it "let go" in no time....

My driver's side window exploded like that once while I was driving. It wasn't even a hot day or anything. I barely reacted to it as I found a good place to pull over so one of my passengers asked me if I got shot.

I don't know why, but this comment just made LMFAO 🙂

Maybe somebody put that pan in the left of the picture on it while it was still hot and then later moved it?

Yeah, I'm reaching. 😛
