wtf? Ebates.com blows

On my Windows 2000 IE6 machine, most of the links lead to a "The page cannot be displayed." On every other computer, it seems to work fine. I've messed with the forwarding settings and nothing seems to fix it. This and the images not loading problem in IE is really annoying.

interesting, I'm running Win2k, but with CrazyBrowser (which is basically just an IE6 skin anyway)

why's that matter?

The last couple versions modify your host file to direct a whole lot of referral links and such to 127.0.0.1 which is....um....local host....makes it come up as Page Cannot Be Displayed

Yeah, that's it...

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts

If you open it with notepad you'll see everything it has set to local host

Damn that doesn't make sense, but it's the truth!

see here - the last post explains it well

eBates.com doesn't blow, it's competition (now dead) Dash.com blew.

So far eBates has paid me at least $2,000 in free money.

Can't argue with that.

thawolfman is right. Clear out the hosts file of the linsyenergy.com (something like that, check ebates for the exact link) and it will work.

I cleared out the line for linksynergy.com and qksrv.net, but still no go.

EDIT: I cleared out all the entries and it works fine!

Yeah, that got me too for a while. Check for MULTIPLE instances. I found like 20 listed on mine.
