I'm beginning to think Dell has monkeys working for them. Back in the long long ago I got in on the hot deal for the ATI Radeon 8500 for $203 shipped. Well, as I could not wait, I went out and bought an OEM Radeon 8500 from Newegg. I have been very happy with that. Dell has sent me 2 emails saying they would cancel my order if I did not respond (which I did not). The second one said "by law they would be required to cancel my order."

Well today I woke up to a bunch of packages (most of them were from Newegg, as expected) but one said Dell on it and I just said !@#$! I knew it right away. I opened it up and found none other than a brand new retail Radeon 8500. I don't know WTF to do with it. I would like to swap my OEM with it and sell the OEM but I would probably lose too much money. So far I have not opened it. I am thinking about just returning it to Dell.

Also, a question for you credit card experts. I placed the order for this on a credit card that has been cancled. Were they still able to charge me since that CC is no longer valid? The charge has not shown up yet as far as I can tell but that doesn't mean anything.

Sorry for the rant but can't Dell do anything right?!?!?

that sucks, email or call dell and tell them what happened, they should have someone pick it up (ups guy, or fedex) and they should cover shipping, either that or let you keep the card without charging you for it.

Yes they still can charge you for it - you'd need to call up both Dell and the CC company and explain what happened though.

<< you should have waited. >>

That would have left my new system with a Sis 6326 for like 3 months!

<< they wont refund shipping though >>

Well, I got free overnight shipping so that won't matter. :D

Just sell it on the For Sale/For Trade forum for $215 shipped and that will take care of your worries quickly and you'll make someone happy to boot. I just received my Radeon 8500 as well, and I was not charged either (my CC is valid). Maybe we'll get it for free, who knows :D

That happened to me a couple weeks ago too. I had been waiting for a dvd drive for $42 to come for over a month, then they sent the "contact us or we're going to cancel this" email.

I didn't contact them but another month later they called and asked if I still wanted the order active. I said "I thought this was cancelled. Whats the ship date?" She replied "estimated shipping in two weeks", so I said OK, I'll wait.

I got it the very next day via overnight mail!:confused::confused:

Got mine too! I don't BELIEVE it! After 2+ months! I was getting somewhat pissed, but I guess I'm pleasantly surprised.

I did the same thing with the cancelation messages, and it's indeed been shipped... Their site says so, and the card in my machine says so...

But no charge to my card...

Well, if your CC is still valid then you will be charged. Once accounting gets hold of the shipping records (which can take days or weeks), they will make sure you pay for it. Don't know how it works if your CC account has been since cancelled or closed.
