I got ATT Cable and went through the switch to Comcast... so far so good and not much isses. Last night was a bit flaky, but nothing bad. All in all I love to pull something down with 220kbs, that is 70kbs faster the my DSL ever was.

Same here.....Fresno area.

Had the same problem in Kingsburg, CA. Small town 35 miles SE of Fresno. I did some tracerouting, and there was an ip in the route that was getting like 600 MS pings for me last night. It was in the 12.0.0.0 subnet range.

I had the same problem with my ATT, now Comcast, service last night. If they raise my rates to $60 a month for cable internet, I'm cancelling immediately and getting DSL.

welcome to the wonderful world of Comcast.

my service was never been quite as fast as back when it was @Home.

although, not completely crappy.. but @Home was better!!

You guys all have it great, around here there is no cable modem service offered. If you want broadband you get DSL, which means you also pay for telephone service even if you didn't want it. When its all said and done I pay about $80 a month for 768/128 since I wouldn't have a phone from them otherwise. Even without it would still be $60 from the cheapest ISP without the local telephone service....

Sadly bandthwidth is still expensive.

That is irrelevant. If I want a cable modem I have to pay for cable service even if I would rather use Directv or Dish Networks. Technically I can get just a cable modem bu you pay more money for just cable internet than you do for basic cable and cable internet.

Comcast Internet now charges $15 extra if you don't have cable TV service.

now it makes the superior and cheaper DSS not so good deal.

That sucks, I hope they don't start doing that here

Get Comcast Pro. GREAT bandwidth and double the up. i get more than 2 mb/s and 512 kb/s up.

for 99 / month of course. 🙂 OH ya, btw, that's the same price whethor or not you have comcast cable TV.

unfortunately, I am not willing to take the chance on DSL.
There seems to be too many factors which can make DSL good or bad.

Since Comcast has taken over in my area, my speeds have nearly doubled. When I first signed up with At&t, I was only getting 700-900 on a good day when it was supposed to be around 1.5. My connection would go down for an hour or so a couple of times a week and just come back on when it decided to. For the past month or so, my connection has been about 1700 and hasn't gone down once and I'm still only paying $45 a month. Hopefully things won't change.

I had comcast here in Virginia, and had no problem with it except the high price since I don't have cable TV.

Switched to DSL thanks to Hot Deals and I'm amazed by how it is slightly faster than cable. I guess my cable had slower connection before.
