Probably a disc thickness variation problem caused by either runout or uneven pad deposits.

You'll need to replace the rotors and pads. Audi Dealer will probably charge you about $500. Independent should be able to do it using aftermarket parts for about $300.

I can get a set of front OEM rotors for your car (by ATE) for $89.95 shipped. OE pads by ATE are $54.95. Even if you add in 1.5 hours @ $100/hr for a mechanic to install, you can be out for $300. And yes, I do think this route is the best way to go.
