Frigging Alex Rodriguez has 3 more home runs than the whole Athletics team has. Plus the team batting average is at .225!! They won't be anywhere near the playoffs if these offensive numbers don't improve. :thumbsdown::|

im not talking yankees, their division blows as well. Im talking about the best/hardest division in basebal - AL Central. 4/5 teams in contention this year, sick.

The win is the only team stat that counts.

The classic example is the Pirates Yankees world series where the total scores were Yankees 55 / Pirates 27, yet the Pirates won the championship.

Barry Bonds is a whole other topic though. I'm not so sure Barry thinks home runs are more important than wins, but certainly he believes home runs are more important than respect. Here in Chicago, Frank Thomas was the perfect example of someone who believed his stats were more important than wins, he was constantly complaining of all the walks he was getting - and late in his career here he honest to God said to reporters he would stop hitting situationally to help the team and instead start slugging as he saw fit. Thomas was always disgruntled from maybe '99 on, especially about being moved to the DH role.
