They aren't regular popups so my popup blocker isn't catching them. I ran Norton and Adaware and they are both not picking up anything..... wtf?!?!?!?

Yep, those damn telemarketers. It's a feature in Windows XP. Made mainly for companies to contact each other immediately.

Telemarketers have programs that scan for IP addresses and they auto send you those messages. I've heard them getting to about 1,000 users in less than an hour.

It's a Service used by Sys Admins to send messages across the network. It's called Messenger Service but has nothing to do with MSN Messenger

CorporateRecreation gave you the fix.

It is not MSN Messenger it is Windows Messenger Service they are taking advantage of.

That's exactly what it is.

Advertisers figured out they could run a script that says:

:Start
net send $IPAddy "Insert Ad Here"
$IPAddy++
if $IPAddy > MAX_LONG goto end
goto Start

:end

Idiotic isn't it?

Thanks Microshaft. Thankfully my Linksys router says PFFFT!

Correct. They're coming from Windows Messenger. But I have a hardware firewall that dslreports says is doing a kickass job of not letting jack crap through. I have Ad Aware 6 Plus (yes, that I bought) and it couldn't find anything.

I JUST disabled Windows Messenger yesterday to fix this problem, and it worked.

go to google and search for ad-aware 6.0.

great for removing ads and crap like that.

Also be sure to install Google Toolbar 2.2 beta or something, because It has a built in pop-up blocker, which is quite useful. I've had 286 ads blocked so far.
