WTF are people so inconsiderate?

We're going to a wedding today for my fiance's ex-roommate in anotgher city about an hour from hear. I just found out the wedding is at 2, the reception is at 6 and dinner is at 7.

It pisses me off to think that I have to spend the next 9 to 10 hours devoted to somebody's wedding that I don't even know. On a perfectly good Saturday. Gah...and I've got a ton of stuff I was going to do later today before I leave town Monday...

same here today - reception at 7pm. 2:30pm is the ceremony we're not going to attend. That's 4 hours downtime.

When we had our wedding, it was about 3-4 hours also. We needed the time to take pictures with EVERYONE and travel between the places. If there's no travel involved, I'm surprised there's so much time between. But keep in mind, their time > your time... so suck it up for a day.

Well, you will get to tool around the city, no? I would enjoy that but that's just me.

sometimes that would be fine, but I had planned a bunch of planning and packing for my business trip to Chicago Monday...and to top it off, and ther's not a whole lot in KC I'd like to do that could be done with no notice and only 3 hours.

Go to the wedding and miss the reception, or don't go to the wedding and just go to the reception.

hold on...I'll put my fiance on the line....explain to her that the world will not stop if we miss one. BTW, this girl was her roommate in college about 8 years ago, and she talks to her, MAYBE, once a year.

So are we going to have a drink when you come to Chicago?

Edit: FYI, I voted "no" to all of the "would you have gay sex for money" threads.

LOL...I save that for teh women. j/k 😀 When are you going to be around?

Here's a thought, don't go to the reception then. Or the wedding. 😛

Wait weren't you the one who went to that weird ass wedding anyway last Saturday?

This is why I hate weddings. Our wedding to reception window was small. The bride wants it all to be about her...the best day of her life, which is fvcking pathetic, and so she needs the pics and plenty of time to stress out between the wedding and reception.

Our wedding was fast and comparitively painless for all involved. We did have the wedding and reception at the same place.

Weddings suck and I'm so lucky that I've only been to four, including my own. I skipped the reception on one of them because I knew nobody (sounded like a sh*ty time!). another had wedding and reception at the same place and another I was too young to remember.

That's BS - you don't need to take that much time between wedding and reception. When we got married, we did groom & bride pics separately before the ceremony, and the combo pictures afterwards.

We went to a wedding last summer at 4pm, dinner wasn't served until 9. We were packed in like sardines. Very inconsiderate.

Maybe it's because it's quite possibly the most special day in their lives?

If it bothers you so much, don't go.

That's a lame excuse to treat your guests badly.

agreed....we are planning our wedding now, and we are going out of our way to make sure the GUESTS have a great time. We are getting what we want...our marriage. I'm glad people care enough to take time to attend, and therefore I want them to enjoy it.
