So I saw this two bdrm apt on Craigslist for $1850/month. I looked at it, got an application but didn't apply. Then a month later, it gets reduced because no one wanted to rent it. Reduced to $1800/month. I applied at the lower rate. Now the manager says that the owner wants me to pay $1950/month.

What a load of BS!

No! I think they saw that I could afford to pay the higher price.

$1200, + you'll promise not to sue him for racial discrimination for as long as the rate stays at $1200.

I told the manager, I was hoping the owner would agree to $1750.

if you are applying then it may mean you need a place since you are probably losing the lease on your present apartment. either you pay up or live in the street

You're assuming there are zero other apartments available during june, biggest moving season of the year.

Sounds like there's a reason this place has remained vacant, in addition to the outrageous rent...I hope you live in cali or something. Although people do try to charge close to that around here sometimes. I have no idea who pays it!

Nope, good credit. Just sold my home and was looking to rent for a year or two while I wait to see how the housing market balloon pans out. Its a year lease.

I said I could get a 3 bdrm for less than 1950. he came back and said that this place had a nice water view and that's why its more expensive than the 3bdrms I was referring to. Like that was very important to me. I only liked it because it was a two story condo. So I told him, thanks but no thanks. I'll keep looking.
