Now they say it's a creme astro van according to the chief of police. Either way, it's white[ish].

The roadblocks they have in the area are simply huge.. that's going to take forever to search through...

Better than reporting they're not doing anything about it.

I agree. The chances that the sniper(s) are still on surrounding roads may not be that great, but there is a chance. The police seem pretty prepared if you ask me.

The sniper is not a lone gunman, but a pair acting as a team.

Makes sense that they nab one of them the other goes out and shoots someone over it.

Man, if snipers are this effective we should just send a team of snipers over to iraq and win the war

Local news just said that MD state troopers and Montgomery County police are checking each and every car crossing the Amer. Legion Bridge into MD. There was also a rumor that there was a possible partial plate number, but the Fairfax police chief didn't mention it. We'll see.

How can they be a team if ballistics evidence points to one rifle ?

This guy is effective because he is shooting civilians who don't have the fvcking idea that they are targets. Not to mention that they are barely moving.

This sniper guy seems to be taken out of a movie. Someone should snipe his balls off :|

MSNBC is having some serious god awful coverage of this. I never watch the news but this is just terrible. The anchor looks like she's about to pass out and keeps mumblling and saying "uh, um." And they just had some fat drunk guy reporting from the scene.

If you're talking about the guy they grabbed in Baltimore, here's what they had to say about it today:

The weapon was rushed to a federal ballistics laboratory for testing, and police sources said they determined that the gun did not match the one used in the shootings.

A law enforcement source said, "We have three or four of these [fruitless tips] a day." The only difference yesterday was "you found out about this one."

"This is what the police do. They follow up leads like this, and many of them sound promising," the source said. "When they say they're making progress, they mean that they're following leads like this every day."

From here.

U.S. Army-trained snipers tend to work in teams. One shoots and the other acts as a lookout.

I'll bet the perpetrator doesn't even have a white van. It was probably a coincidence, and now the perp is using white vans as red herrings. He's probably waiting for a white van to be in the area, THEN shooting his victim.

I think it's Bin Laden. I could have sworn I saw him DC, hiding under a bed.

Kidding aside, know how have approached me certain this guy is Al-Queda? Lots.

Reminds me of the Communist scare a la Joe McCarthy.

This guy is good though. He probably is using a flash suppressor. Don't know if he is military, but if not, the woodchucks fear him for sure.

I don't get it.
This is the 4th or 5th attack that occurred in close proximity to a Michaels' store.

Now they are going to begin having US Military surveillance planes fly over the area: Pentagon to Help in Hunting Sniper..

The article does not mention which planes they plan on using but I would guess it would be E-3's.
