Hey XCLAN. I see that you are in Ridgcrest CA. I was born there and grew up in Lone Pine (80 miles north). Small world. Anyway, $2.40 is way screwed! I know that the last time the gas was out of control, it hit like $2.89 a gallon in
Lone Pine! I still don't know what the h3ll is going on, but Isn't there a gas transmission line that is out of commision in Arizona or somewhere??

Yes! And be thankful that you don't live in Phoenix. A$$munching convenience strores are price gouging up to $4.35/gal. Up there. I live in Tucson and people are driving all the way from Phoenix to buy gas here for $1.78.

Not to brag or anything... but here in NJ gas is well under $2 and we get full service 😉

Don't think you'll be bragginf for much longer, one of the articles in th threads has a report that NJ expects Gas to go up 40 cents by Labor Day.

Edit: Also you guys have the U.S. biggest refinery farm in your backyard so it costs very little in transprtation to the pumps there. All profit.

Yeah, I know I am luckier than many in what I pay for gas, but even during the wars we had with Iraq, the price went up only 10 cents. I've been scouring the web for indicators to the drastic jump but all I see is lowered production numbers from OPEC but nothing to rate this jump! 🙁

EDIT: Ahhhh, how stupid of me to forget that next week is Labor Day weekend. Nothing like a gouge to the old wallet to remind me that I live in capitalist economy.
😉

Well.. don't forget..

There was a Gas pipeline break in Tucson, Arizona last month. As many as 60 percent of the Phoenix area's 1,000 gas stations faced outages Tuesday, the state estimates. The area is running short by about 500,000 barrels a day.

The pipeline broke July 30 and spilled about 12,000 gallons. Kinder Morgan ran the pipeline at reduced capacity for several days before turning it off.

Here's an article:

this could possibly impact everwhere maybe?

:Q :Q :Q

That is just wrong!!

It almost always goes up for the weekend, especially during the summer. I try to buy gasoline on Tuesdays if I can since that's usually when they drop the price back down. Tuesday through Thursday is generally the best time to buy gas.
