"While the structure would reach 1,776 feet, with the antenna perhaps soaring to 2,000 feet."
"The 70 occupied stories will rise 1,000 to 1,100 feet, more than 200 feet shorter than the twin towers"

The Petronas Towers in Malaysia are no longer the world's tallest buildings. Taipei 101 towers 184 feet above them.
The height to the top of the roof for Taipei 101 is 1470 feet.
The height of the highest occupied floor for Taipei 101 is 1437 feet.
The Sears Tower still holds the title for height to top of antenna though. 1730 feet vs 1667 feet. 🙂

wtf... 600-700 feet of unoccupied space, not including the antenna?! That's pretty wasteful, and imho not worth doing just to appeal to all of the neo-pseudo-patriots we have in this country who get off on the word "freedom."

Not wasted, used to get wind power off the Hudson.

They should build something extremely impressive like the Japanese sky city in extreme engineering. Now that would be cool, a fake tall builing with an extremely tall antenna just says we lost to the terrorists and we suck @ the building game to the whole world :|
