WTB small, inexpensive camera with good low-light performance

He's talking 35mm. Go to your local camera shop and snag a nice camera that somebody traded in for a digital camera.

why are you looking at film cameras now?

my mom bought a $200 film camera without consulting me and i was pretty annoyed.

The Canon SD110 Elph is on sale for $198 at Amazon.com. It's an excellent deal on a very small camera. It'd work perfect for parties.

Because to get the same quality from the SLR I just bought I'd have to spend at least twice as much for digital.

EDIT: For the OP. Amazingly I've gotten very good results from my Canon Elph LT. It uses APS film. I think I paid about $30 for it on clearance from Target. It takes much better low-light pics then my S200 oddly enough and its smaller! No zoom on it as its the cheapie though.

This, for example.

But you're going to easily spend at least twice as much as the camera cost on film and developing over it's life..........

Eh. Small price to pay. Besides, low end DSLRs still feel like toys; at least the Canons.

because iso 400 digital pictures look like utter sh!t while iso 400 film pictures look ok.

if i break/lose/spill beer all over a cheap film camera it isn't as much of a loss as an equivalent digital

that sylus i linked to is weatherproof, btw

zoom is almost antithetical to good low light performance, so that pretty much explains it. i'll see if i can find one of those non-zoom at a target. since its for parties it wouldn't really need zoom anyway

i hate aps though. my one aps camera was a POS (canon elph, damn thing wouldn't load film, go figure). but it is hard to get tiny in a 35 mm.

edit: this?

Heh. That's the one I've got ElFenix. Works great considering the $30 it cost me😀😎 That was quite a while ago though, like 2 years. Plus mine is an ugly gold color😛
