Thinking of starting up a new cell phone service, been a while since I've been without a phone. I'd like to use a bluetooth headset with it, so it needs bluetooth. Any ideas? Sprint is also not an option, their service sucks in my area unfortunately.

Well I might try t-mobile, if the phone is right. The phone is more important. I found a half-decent samsung for Verizon, only $50. Cheapest from them for bluetooth. Got some good, some bad reviews. Bad didn't sound that bad really.

Buy an unlocked moto v600 on ebay for ~$100 (used, more for new), then go to any GSM provider and buy a plan without a phone. i love my v600, im on cingular though, dont see what you have against them..

bluetooth headset is about $60 new.

i hate bluetooth headsets with a passion. It's like somebody told you to stick your phone up your ass, but missed and hit your ear instead. 99% of bluetoothers are inconsiderate people who try to look important.

Why do you say that? How is it any more inconsiderate than putting the phone up to your ear?

The problem with VZW phones and bluetooth is that they neuter a lot of the bluetooth functionality so you can only use headsets for the phones - you can't connect to the phone wirelessly and browse the directory structure.

The V710 is that way for sure, there was a lawsuit about it. The E815 is that way too, however you can flash it with firmware that unlocks the full bluetooth features.

E815 is about $100 - I almost bought it when I was in there upgrading my plan the other day, but I'll probably wait until I break my current phone to take advantage of the discount.

Wait so how can you flash it with firmware? Would that enable you to send photos and stuff via bluetooth to and from the phone from the computer? I've been trying to unlock that now for awhile, but no such luck...

I used to have the V710 and I had no such luck with it either.

I don't own an e815, but I know it's possible to send MP3 ringtones to the phone via bluetooth. I imagine you could change the wallpaper too. The best resource for this would be Howard Forums, they've got a couple that should point you in the right direction.

The Motorola phone forum here: http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38

The Verizon phone forum for Motorola here: http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=294

The second forum will be the most useful - the first stickied thread there is an intro to hacking the e815.

Hope that helps !

That's retarded. It doesn't matter how good the phone is if the service sucks.
