Bush was unpopular among liberals and libertarians. Personally I think it's hilarious that Obama doubled down on the topics that most enraged these groups. NSA, patriot act, drones. Combined with his anti gun policy and petulant mewlings regarding marijuana Obama is the least freedom loving president we have had.

Your post strikes a chord.

The presidents elected during financial hardships are usually the ones who oppress our rights.

FDR had the Japanese internment camps and prohibited the private ownership of gold.

obama has the nsa, ndaa and drone strikes.

Neither president is or was an upholder of individual civil rights.

Do you have anything to contribute to this forum besides poorly thought out rants about Obama and gays?

Since you do not have anything to contribute to this thread would you please leave.

All countries are weak not because of weak leaders, but because we're so interdependent. If we turn off the economy of Russia, they could just turn off the gas to Europe. Why do you think we never really stood up to China over Tibet?

We have NATO obligations with some of those former Soviet countries that are also hugely ethnic Russian. It's all tribalism, but could it start WWIII?

Unless a moderator asks me to otherwise, I'm going to have to say; 'Nope'.

I could also ask you to stop posting new threads but I have a feeling your response would be similar.

The individual mandate is pretty anti freedom as well, you need to buy health insurance or if you cannot afford it you need to sign up for medicare, and incur debt to the state... Which forfeits property if you are not married at death.

If you are a poor single parent you won't have much of anything to pass on to your child.

TH still thinks Ukraine is aiming to become a member of the EU, or that the EU would ever want The Ukraine as a member.

This should tell you all you need to know about TH's analysis of what is happening over there.

I think anything is possible.

In todays global economy would Ukraine benefit by joining the EU and entering into some free trade agreements?

Look at Poland. They manufacturer farm tools, tractors,,, all kinds of stuff. What does the Ukraine do? Why not join the EU and get into some of those trade agreements?

Debate you on what exactly? The fact that you Godwin'ed the thread?
Can't do that, your post speaks for itself there.

That G.W. Bush and Carter were unpopular at the time their successors were elected. Pretty sure that is factual too.

If you want a debate, chew on this for a bit.
While Nixon and Franklin Roosevelt were bad presidents in many ways, so were the good ones.
Eisenhower is generally regarded as a 'good' president, yet did nothing to stem the growing racial disparity that lead to the riots of the 60s.
Even the almighty Reagan himself had the Iran-Contra scandal and numerous excursions into South America.
All of them are humans, and imperfect and must make due with the situations they are dealt with.
True, and well said. Although I don't think FDR was on balance a bad President, just bad on specific things.

Hitler had brown hair and Obama has brown hair. Coincidence? :hmm:
LOL +1

Yeah, I'd think it was hilarious except it's actually happening. Kind of takes the humor out of it for me.

I read two words of the headline "Peggy Noonan:". That was all I needed to read.

Well, I had to read the opinion piece. Sorry but she's not much more than a shill.

Anyway in response to this

What is our foreign policy? Disliking global warming?

Our foreign policy is broke and broken as fuck because of foreign policy mistakes by another leader that she is probably a fan of.

Not only will it cost a large amount of money bring equipment that is in the ME back home, but also the idea of leaving some of it behind is considered to be a bad option as well.

We also have personnel who have been in multiple tours of duty and even if they aren't suffering from lasting physical injuries they might still be suffering from ptsd. The treatment cost for these military members could be at least as much as the costs of the actual wars.

She of course ignores these inconvenient factors and wonders why the current President isn't acting like we have all the money in the world to threaten Russia over taking unprovoked military action in its own backyard.

Sorry, but she isn't a commentator who anyone with a lick of sense should take with any degree of seriousness over foreign policy.

lol Peggy Noonan.

So, is that your rebuttal? If you have nothing to contribute why are you posting?

The name of the author does not change the facts.

Putin is a sly fox.

To counter that fox the American people elected a puppy who is running around with no idea what he is doing. While our puppy dog president is playing with his toys and licking his balls, the fox is sneaking into the chicken house.

The American people got what they deserved with obama.

Of course the name of the author matters. Peggy Noonan's "analysis" is renowned to be among the stupidest, most vacuous, and most frequently wrong of anyone writing today.

When someone is wrong -literally- almost all the time, sooner or later a wise person stops listening to them.

Does not change the fact that the people of the United States elected a community organizer, while Russia has a strong leader.

Instead of electing real leaders, our divided nation are electing people who talk the good talk. Gays and femenist would rather vote for someone who supports gay rights and abortion than someone who is a real leader. Children of illegal immigrants would rather vote for someone who talks about amensity than someone who is able to deal with Iran, Russia and Syria.

Our history of electing weaklings into position of authority is going to come back and bite us in the ass.

I laugh when people actually think Politicians are serving the public. They are serving lobbyists.

And Obama is doing a great job serving them, and so will the next president.
