Yeah...I know the type. I'm of the mindset that a $25000 car that has the performance of a $50000+ sports car is an amazing value. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a Porsche, so this pretty much gives me the fix I need :)

<< I'll get flammed for this but fuggit.

It appears to me that one's ego is directly proportional to the displacement of one's engine, while IQ is inversely proportional.

Of course, the vtec wanks have their dim bulbs...but most of them are only 15 years old so I give them the benefit of doubt :)

Pulls out flamethrower :)

The reason I like 'big' engines is simple. They sound heaps better and generally provide more torque. I don't have to rev my 351 at some absurd RPM just to make some power, while sounding like a lawnmower on speed!

Plus, if something breaks in it, I can whip the engine out, take the heads off and fix it. Try to do that in your backyard on a high-tec .23244ci engine ;)

bah, what do rpms matter anyways. When you shift your engine doesn't drop down to 0 rpm and start cranking up again:p u stay at the high rpms if u want power. if you want to save gas you drive "normally" and a small engine will allow you to save the gas. A large displacement eats gas at all times:p

as for sound, i have yet to hear a camaro or mustang with the refined sound of say a porsche:p i hate cars that growl like monsters even when they are just pulling up a driveway slowly, its kinda pathetic growling when the going is easy.

Why worry about flames from others, with a remark like that I think you just spontaneously combusted

Thats funny I get 19mpg out of my large displacement, and thats comming from a 4x4 truck that weighs 5300lbs, ontop of that it's as aerodynamic as a brick... want more... sure you do, I have 4.11 gears to stack ontop of that... Drop 2000lbs, shape it like an arrow and drop in the 3.73's and lets see how we do @ 470HP and 560LBS of torque

What's patchetic about growling when the going is easy? my version of "Going Easy" is over 400lbs of torque just off idle... whats a 4 bangers peak run? 2... 3 hundred with enough boost to make it last 30K miles before it blasts head gasgets and smokes like a turkey? I'll keep my displacement, anything less then 300CI wouldn't even power my ride enough to roll out of a stoplight.

Large displacement doesn't eat gas all the time. Get the right carby (or FI if you like the 'standard' boring new cars) and you'll get very good economy with normal driving. A spreadbore 650 Vacumn Secondary Holley (I'm more a a Double Pumper guy myself, but if you want economy) with a 351C will give you loads of power when you put your foot down, and nice fuel usage when cruising. Not that economy worries me tho. :)

Cars that 'growl' and rumble sound beautiful. If you don't like the sound of a big V8, I feel sorry for ya! It's what makes cars, and especially muscle cars!!!

Plus, with my V8 I can lay rubber from one end of the street to the other, without any effort. You'll be revving the tits off your 4banger doing that (and have the front wheels spinning LOL) :)

Come on Laust. You of all people know that you should never underestimate your opponent and not show them any respect.

How many unsuspecting lightnings have you offed with your sleeper look? From what I've seen on message boards, as well as in the white trash redneck towns that I've grown up in, it's the meatheads with the V8 mustangs and Camaros that think they're gods gift to the dragstrip. They give "these cute lil subarus" or whatever car isn't an F-Body or a Pony car no respect and rag on them until they get their asses handed to them and then they tuck tail and run away bitching and moaning about it.

In my addimitedly limited experience with F-Body owners, my previous comments have held very true. Maybe it's just what I've been exposed to, or it could be that the biggest dolts/fanbois are the loudest talkers/typers.

I don't know.

yeah ;) I just get defencive when people slam on what I run :)

I've definantly seen some fast imports, many that would beat me pretty bad, but as all things in life go, everything has a cost. Small displacement engines can be made to have lots of horsepower and be more economical, but they don't have torque numbers to power larger vehicles. If you want to make a small engine make a small car go fast I'm all for it, but those guys have to understand that over 3000lbs those stop, Take my 6'5"260lb brother for instance.... he can't fit in a small import car like a supra, but he fit in his 92 LX great same goes for my truck, there is a time and a place for any motor type, and in my truck it's V8, Diesel or nothing, same goes for Camaro's and Corvette's, I'm not a big guy myself 5'7" 163~ I can fit in a supra, but my truck tows/hauls more then it races so with those needs I have to have my truck.

But your right, I know not to underestimate people but I love fun competition, but I do see both sides have a very equal amount of their "Goobs" on a F-150 thread about a week ago one guy showed his gooberness ;) and I made sure he knew, but everything with me is always a reaction, I never start off with a slam on a select Group/Crowd.

When I was looking for some info on a few parts for my 4L60-E I talked to a Corvette group here called "Corvette Connection" the guy was completly nice to me until he found out I had a truck and not a Corvette, so yeah, I've seen em on the big engine side, and I've met em on the small import side and with as much as I am in the motorsport world it is a high amount.

But basically in all my performance choices.. I'm a big late Fox-body Stang fan, when I get one (93 Cobra is what I really want) my prefrance requires a large engine, and Gas milage doesn't matter to me as I understand thats a cost for my prefrence, I do pay for that cost in fuel but I'll make up for it in cheaper parts and the ability to properly power the car of my choice.

Have you ever heard a Mustang? Mustangs have a more refined sound than any other car I've heard - you hear one rev and you know it's a Mustang.
