So I got a Linksys WRT610N on sale and use it as my primary router now. I still have a WRT54GL w/ the latest version of Tomato and two Hawking high gain antennas.

Can I use the WRT54GL as a repeater for the WRT610N's G radio?

If so, how would I set this up?

If both are flashed with DD-WRT it might work.

.

I'd think that only the WRT54GL would really need the DD-WRT firmware to act as a repeater, and he could keep the WRT610N on the stock firmware.

I found some instructions here:

I'll bet that he could pull off the same stunt with the Tomato firmware by setting it to WDS mode, but I can't seem to find a walk-thru for that setup.

Repeaters are very "Needy" there is a better chance that it work smother if it the same chipset and firmware, or at least in this case the same firmware.

i'd use client bridging or google "mesh network" - the main problem is without full duplex you degrade briding speed horribly - you want to transmit and receive on alternate channels or bands to avoid half-duplex repeating. also reduces the symbol as low as you can go if you need distance. 2.4ghz at 1.0mbps is going to go alot farther than 11mbps

Thanks! Followed the steps in that thread and got it all working properly.
