Hi, this setup disc tells me i'm not connected/no connection every time I try, yet here I am asking questions. I.d appreciate any advise/ideas. many thanks.

you dont really need it - I threw it in just to see what it offered after i set mine up- its just a wizard interface to plug in some basic info that you can do yourself, direct in the admin panel on 192.168.1.1

Who's a pest ?.not me.Could someone let me know what the password is for 192.168.1.1? Remember this is from scratch and I've forgotten the score. Many thanks.

true.

The linksys series only use admin for the username, which is bogus.

I'd like to be able to change it, but it is not an option. The default password is
admin

EDIT:
Oh, I toss those CD's in the trash right off, don't need that garbage sitting around.

I've got 9 wrt54G v 1, 2.0, 2.2 in various locations. I can assure you it is admin/ admin for that model.
Edit: linksys works too, but no caps. I had no idea!

hrm, mine doesn't require a username at all, just admin as the password (which i have changed of course)

Exactly. No need for a user name. You can put Joe Blow for the user name, as long as the password is admin, you'll be able to get in (using the default settings). This will pretty much work on any Linksys hardware that let's you configure through a browser.

We have people all the time that come in to work and can't get on our wireless network even though they used to. I ask what they did recently and they say they installed software so they could connect to their home router. I'm always wondering what the hell they are installing since all you have to do is stick some settings in there. I never use those CDs. Jsut read the manual to get the IP you need to use and go from there.
