WRT54G Linksys router web page access issues

I have problems with my Linksys router WRT54G V.5. It was fine last week, I came back home and now certain pages do not load. Major ones such as Anandtech and Hotmail.

I've already restarted the PC. Reset the defaults on the router configuration. Power cyclced the router. Reset the router with the reset button being held down for about 30 seconds. Disabled all firewalls. Disabled wireless access. And tried connecting the PC directly to the Motorola Cable Modem (surprise, all the pages work then). I'm connecting right now through a laptop VPN connection and am at a loss of what else to try. I am wary of the "holding down the reset button while plugging in the power cable" reset method as I have bricked one router using that method in the past. I'm running Windows XP with SP2 and all updates not that I think it matters since it connects fine when bypassing the router. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

The most recent from the Linksys page. 1.0.2.2 I believe is the number. I was running a non linksys firmware on the other router I borked.

I suspected that but it didn't make sense since I could connect when wired directly to the cable modem. Since the desktop still does not connect to several sites when hooked up through the router.

okay, wasn't sure if you meant you bypassed it yesterday or just tried it today. I am using a 54g and I'm not having any issues, are you having issues going through it wired or wireless?

Yes, having issues with both. But when I do wireless + VPN I have no issues getting to any of the pages.

I just reconnected the Linksys v3 router with DD-WRT firmware (the one I thought was borked) and it is now working fine with that one.

But the V.5 with standard firmware was still not connecting right before I unplugged it all.

did you set up VPN for both, and did you check to see if you'd setup that one the router by accident?

I've never had a VPN setup for the desktop. And for normal browsing on the laptop, the VPN is normally disabled as well. Only when I need to get to my work stuff to I enable it. The VPN settings on the router are all set to defaults like they normally are.
