i think a wrt400n refurb off ebay for the same price is a better deal....


i would much rather have a wrt320n (and i do have one). the wrt400n is not gigabit.


this is a very good deal for this new . i think i paid $30 or so on ebay for a used one and it works great... dd-wrt works , and you can install the full mega size dd-wrt.

another alternative if $50 is too much is the refurb E2000 direct from cisco, i think its $34 after a coupon (wrt320n and E2000 are exactly the same hardware by the way... you can convert your WRT320n by following these steps : http://dmach.net/blog/2010/08/22/upgrade-your-linksys-router-literally/ )
 
I have a refurb WRT320N that is working ok. I think it had some overheating problems but I raised it a little bit and haven't had any problems. I'm only using it as a 5GHz access point.

i didnt realize that... and ive been looking for deals for awhile now. my bad... im still looking for a dual radio n router, but i agree that gigabit is a must.
 
Got a WRT400N and just use the radio part of it 😉 Gigabit switches aren't that expensive anymore...

theyre not but how to do you get from the router to the switch? it has to go through a 100mb connection, and that sucks on good 300mb wireless n speeds.
 
If you read-up on smallnetbuilder and the like, even if you get a 450mb router you're rarely going to bottleneck a Mb connection. That said, good deal, though might as well get the e2000 at a lower price...

I'll put it this way, you probably, theoretically, can have higher performance on the wireless than the 100mbps port can transfer. But paired with overhead, interference and latency, I doubt that is really realistic.
Especially if you're being somewhat mobile, it's unlikely that you'll have the 300mpbs available constantly.
I see your point and it can be very valid, but in a situation where it would be valid, I'd probably aim for having a wired connection instead for less interference and latency.
