me: hello
them: hello, mr. ****** please
me: no sorry you have the wrong number
them: sorry
*click*

2 seconds later...

me: hello
them: *click*

(WTF ? Have you no courtesy to say sorry again? ... I was thinking of not picking up in the first place)

15 seconds later...

me: hello
them: mr. ****** please
me: who's this ?
them: mr. ****** please ?
me: ummm, you have the wrong number
them: ugh (in disgust)... *click*

(gee, I'm sorry to have wasted your time)

Yeah, ive gotten that a few times. Most of my "wrong numbers" are by very very rude people on the other end...

They think they dialed incorrectly the first and second time...

There is an adult video store about 25 miles away from me... and there have been so many times that they accidently call forward their number to my house. And I cannot call them and tell them.. cause when I try to call them... well, you get the picture... I have to call the phone company and have them take the call forward off...

this has happened about six times this year.

:)

I've been in this house for 28 years and have always gotten a call from some woman looking for Leticia.

Does a house have to fall on them for them to get the message?

I get this a lot. Our help desk number is the same as a major airlines booking agency. If you dial 1800-abc-1234 you get them, if you dial 817 (my local area code) abc-1234 you get me. So many people forget to dial the 1-800 part. I tell the people to dial 1-800 and the same number and THEY STILL CALL ME BACK. Idiots.

I bet on that third try they were pressing the buttons down REEEEEALLY hard and held them in for 3 seconds each. "I'll get it right this time!"

About once a week at work, we get a wrong number call from New York. Not sure how that works.

You should just pretend to be Mr. ****** and receive their information. Maybe you'll end up getting a luxury car... :p

LoL

I have this friend Jose, who keeps on calling me asking for Maria. After explaining to him in 3 different phone calls I finaly added his name to my phone and gave him the nick name of Jose. Hes called me about 12 times in total and he's even used different phone numbers to call me from. I wish I spoke spanish so I could tell him to fvck off and he would understand me.

And I've been getting alot of wrong random number phone calls very very annoying.

Over the past 10 some years, my family has always gotten calls for Mario, Ernie, and I think someone else. But it's always the same stupid people calling the same stupid friends :|. Why don't they get a clue eh? Put the correct # on speed dial or something

Oh, BTW, the people who are getting the same calls for the same house, it's a phone system bug. I used to have that problem at my mom's house a long time ago. No matter what number I dialed, sometimes it would connect me to a semi-conducter FAB in the area. The people who are calling out have the problem, they need to conatact the phone company.

If a person hangs up on me, when they call back, I ALWAYS hang up on them. I will answer the third time since I know I got the message across.

My cell number looks like a business number (it ends in 1100). I looked up my number with the different area codes in my area (on Google) and so far I've found it belonging to a bank, and a construction company. The wrong numbers I've gotten include an old man looking for a model airplane shop and a woman asking to "make an appointment."

I get wrong numbers all the time at work, and the people have the nerve to argue with me. Example:

Ring Ring
Me: "Hello"
Them: "Mr. Kersplak, I just..."
Me: No, I'm sorry, you have the wrong number."
Them: No. This is the number I was given."
Me: "There is no Mr. Kersplak here. Sorry."
Them: "Well could you transfer me to him please?"
Me: "I'm sorry, this is no Mr. Kersplak working here."
Them: "Hmmm, well they gave me this number..."

And on and on until they finally shut up. Sweet Jesus lady STFU.

Not always... that was more likely to have happened 10+ years ago, when the technology wasn't nearly what it is today (and yes, even in rural areas, the technology is vastly improved (said knowing that right now there is a Verizon truck in my lane laying fiber across the road)). There, of course, are some exceptions, but it's improbable that it's the phone company's fault any more.
