Wrong Date on Ticket

I was issued a moving violation (non-speeding) ticket by a cop and he put the wrong date on it. It was issued on 4/8/04 but the cop wrote 5/8/04. This is clearly wrong since this date hasn't occured yet. does anyone know if I can get the ticket thrown out just by it having the wrong date. The ticket was issued in New York.
 
I would imagine if you went to court and proved you were not even driving then...it could be thrown out. I don't know.
 
I'd say you have a small (but still significant) chance of getting it dismissed. I knew a bunch of people who got out of tickets since the cop wrote their address down incorrectly. However, I think that is a stupid part of our judicial system that should be fixed. Be a man and pay up.

You're the first person to comment on that sig. One question: are you referring to throwing out the name or to throwing out the poster? I too cannot write the date properly. Thanks for correcting me. It took me an hour to get in to add that to my profile (new forum bugs). Thus I rushed and goofed. Sig is fixed.

YES this most certainly can be thrown out however your best bet is if you act fast.
 
I have had a ticket with the wrong date before, i asked a cop about it kind of kidding, and you would have the same chances of getting it thrown out as if you had the right date.
 
Actually, you probably have a very good chance of getting the ticket dismissed.

While I tend not to go for these nitpicky technicalities ("The cop misspelled my name!"), it should be quite easy for you to demonstrate that you were not driving your vehicle on the date on the ticket.

You should be able to get the ticket dismissed easily. Certain things are required for a ticket to be valid and a correct date is certainly one of them.
