Assume for the moment I'm a complete newbie when it comes to DVD writing standards (I'm not, but I've enough holes in my knowledge that I should start from scratch).
Could someone please explain the differences between DVD-R, -RAM, and any other standards that might be floating around, especially as they relate to compatibility issues when using written DVDs in standard DVD drives - or point me to a recent article explaining it all?
I'm looking for a reasonable large file backup solution for my home (I'd prefer to avoid tape if possible, but CDs just aren't cutting it anymore).
Thanks!
-Mike
