Can someone please recommend me a free program that allow you to write text in pdf documents (to fill out college application forms)?

That one's pretty tough, man. Is there some specific reason you want to do it that way? Are the answer sections of the forms "fillable"? If so, Acrobat reader should allow you to complete them.

Failing that, I'd suggest the old-fashioned solution of printing them out, filling them out by hand and sending them in. Or if you must send in PDFs, after filling them out by hand, go down to Kinko's and scan the docs to PDF files.
