Wrist Strengthening?

cirrhosis

Golden Member
So I game alot. About 3-4 of my hours each night are spent on intense gaming.

I've noticed that my left wrist has been aching recently (past 2 days) following a long session of WASD-ctrl-space.

The question is:

Short of performing actual exercise, what is the best method to improve my wrist strength?

Before the puerile responses arrive, might I suggest that you actually have a case of RSI which is an injury resulting from prolonged repetitive movement (rather than the result of weak wrists). I'd suggest resting it and perhaps thinking of buying a comfort/ergonomic keyboard.

I feared it might be RSI.

Sucks too considering I just spent a good deal of money on a DeCK keyboard. Maybe a wrist rest in in order. TY for the non-invasive responses.

Wrist curls are also a good idea, but the powerball is cool, fun and best of all LIGHTS UP! how can you resist that? I used to suffer pretty badly but gentle regular use of the powerball plus starting a proper workout regime helped a lot. Due to recent slacking off it's started to return though.

Is that Powerball site for real? It's so goofy I'm wary. $25 for one of them....

Meh. I've spent far more on smaller things. Seems like a fair investment.

I've got a generic (read: Made in China by company pirating Powerball) version of the Powerball, which pretty much does the same thing (it doesn't light up......poor, pitiful me!!), and let me tell you....those things rock!

Put in ~5 to 10 minutes on each hand with one of those, and you'll definitely feel the burn in your wrists & forearms! It's amazing, cuz you wouldn't think while you're doing it that you're doing anything much to strengthen those muscles. But after you set it down, you'll start feeling your muscles relax, and that's when you realize that you just worked out.

Definitely recommended for someone that wants to strengthen their wrists &/or forearms (without doing the unmentionable exercises!! ).

one of them power balls? where you spin it up, then do gyrating actions with your wrist to make it spin faster, as it spins faster it feels like its getting heavier. works your wrists out pretty good

Nobody has said it yet...WTF

But we've all been thinking it so it's okay.

Back to the powerball:

I like it so much i keep giving them to people as presents. I stand by my opinion that much.

I'm glad to hear people are talking about the PowerBall. I just ordered one the other week, it's coming from GB where they are usually sold, only because I could get it at a lower price. I was a little weary if they really do anything but as everyone has said we've all spent $25 on something we never use.

I've got De Quervains and something that causes my wrist to scream in pain whenever i use it to push myself up, or throw anything...

I wonder if those powerballs will help...
