so ive been lifting now for about 2 months, and my wrists have become pretty bad.. i cant even do curls anymore its just way too painful
its affecting every day life too.. my girl wanted me to do stuff to her and i started, but then i had to switch to my left hand (left wrist isnt as bad as right one)

i use wrist straps when lifting, and take glucosamine for joint support.. but im just not feeling that its getting better...

im thinking perhaps part of the problem is that i only lift using dumbells, and when positioning them for a bench press or shoulder press i have to do an awkward swing upwards .. i dont know..

should i see a doctor or will it just heal itself???

thank you

Temporary fix is taping them. Get some first aid tape from walgreens or something and tightly tape around your wrists.

So you don't do straight bar curls at all? If it's really bothering you, either find a better way to get into the original position or stop doing curls. Start doing weighted chin-ups. The biceps/brachialis get hit massively hard on them.

Hi, some tips you can try.....
1.Try your best to avoid activities requiring excessive up-and-down
2.Make it a habit to take 5-10 mini breaks
3Shake your hands and wrists rapidly to increase comfort and reduce tension.
4.For minor temporary pain relief, briefly soak the area you feel the pain in cold or
ice water.

What does that even mean? Also, if he takes three 10min breaks, that adds 30min to hit gym time... doesn't seems practical. Avoiding these exercises, rather, is a preventative approach compared to a compensatory approach. Also, you're just addressing the symptoms. There is an issue with the biomechanics within his joint. Whether that's due to a subluxed lunate, poor movement pattern, bone makeup, or just the dang exercise is a bit more important to figure out and avoid/fix.

Rest for a bit?

My wrists hurt when I do bench press or inclined bench press, but the next day they are usually fine. It could be that they are still just too weak compared to your other arm muscles. Can you do pushups? Those should help a lot.

It hints that you have something wrong with your biomechanics. Frequently, people let their wrists passively extend as the weight pushes down on their hand. You need to keep you hand and wrist in line with your forearm. This pain isn't just a "hey, you're weak here" kind of thing. It's a structural injury each and every time you have pain. There's no true way to strengthen your wrist, really. You just have to fix the way you lift.

I had the same thing happen when I started lifting; I was letting my wrists fall out of alignment with my forearms like SociallyChallenged said. I fixed it by strengthening my forearms with wrist curls and paying more attention to my form.
