where is the data WPCREDIT reads/sets? When does this get written? Where do the values come from? I'm trying to mess with some settings that I don't think are meant to be changed.... so I need to figure out where they can be changed (like the BIOS image, resistors on the motherboard, etc). thanks.

I think it could be stored in the cmos, much like bios themselves. I mean bios is just a kind of gui for the register which are controllable by the user. I got to say that I am just guessing:p

well, the problem is, it won't write to certain locations... and I want to figure out where those get set. one example is bus divider.

Not every register is reset-able after it came out of production line. Sometime they tend to disable it completely for unknown purpose, such as stability, or other issues.
