I have 3 computers all connected to the internet through a single router. 2 computers are connected wirelessly with WPA encryption. The one that is connected with a cable is the oldest (2002) and is running XP SP2. I needed to move the computers around and in doing so, I had to have the oldest computer connect wirelessly and the newest connected via a cable. Now I have a problem. I removed the wireless USB adapter from the new PC and plugged it into the oldest one. Now when I enter the password for my wireless network on the old computer, it says that WEP encryption has to be 64 or 128 bits in length. THen I went to the wireless network properties, and in the Authentication tab I try change the network enmcryption from WEP to WPA, but I only have options for WEP and Disabled. WPA is not listed. Why is that?
I switched the usb adapter back to the new unit, and when I check the properties from that PC I can switch from WEP to WPA and even WPA-PSK.
How can I also get my older unit to use WPA encryption?
Thank you very much,
Neelan
