I have come to take leaked/released/rumored changelogs and features lists for this kind of update with a very small grain of sale; and, I only just got a WP8 device in June of this year (Nokia Lumia 928 on VZW).

I am highly skeptical of the sweet-truths echoing through the grapevine, after GDR2 promised a surfacing and functionality of FM Radio that was supposedly onboard, but lurking in all WP8 devices. Now it is clear that my 928 has no radio devices other than cellular and wifi... I was anticipating being able to use tunein to listen to local radio, and even the remote possibility of native fm transmission. It was al very enticing and quite promising. But, it never solidified out of the ether!

With GDR3, not much enticing for me is on these half-promise lists. A pedometer is cool. I am sure BT4.0 LE (what LE mean?) would save battery, but the only realistic thing for me is to close apps/processes by top+hold on the back arrow, and tapping a soon-to-be "x."

Supposedly, free internet sharing will take some form (albeit, via BT; I have doubts my phone will miraculously jump from BT3-->BT4, as that was even promised at one point to be in the Amber update), though even if it arrives, it should have come in the form of wifi sharing, which is locked by the carrier- leading me to believe the BT implementation will be very limited, or locked just like the wifi.

What I would have like to see is a resolution to the outstanding debacle between implementations of email protocols that ripped native gmail support from WP8: How I yearn to add a relevant email to an event in Google and have that reflected on my to-do's or schedule on my phone... Also, an ability to have either recurring or multiple reminders for to-do's in my phone's calendar, a time for a to-do being "due." Allowing me to see the link speed for my wifi connection would also be a pleasant addition. Finally, some opening-up of the NFC implementation would have been nice....

All-in-all, it looks like my hopes have been reduced to this: Seeing how many newegg deals I received via text on the glance screen, the ability to close apps when seeing all the ones I accidentally left open, smaller tiles so I don't wear my screen + finger scrolling through such a long list, and (hopefully) some sw<-->hw optimizations that increase battery life.

It's not like a software update can result in, or leaks of feature-sets even promise that microSD slot will appear on my phone.

The internet sharing thing just uses BT and requires Windows 8.1 on the tethered device to simplify the pairing. It still won't enable internet sharing for free if not supported by your plan.

Supposedly the chipsets are BT4 ready, but most of the phones were released before they had this ready. Then again, FM is in the chipset and Verizon evidently decided to spec the removal of the connection between the headset jack and tuner (saving, what, $0.0001 per device?).

Are you using the cal/card-dav and imap setup? I thought it supported everything. I have my gmail account setup as an Exchange/Activesync one, but gmail isn't my primary anymore, and I really only use it to sync a couple of family members calendars.

Smaller tiles? They are already as small as will go...

LE: Low Energy

Yeah, the to-do's would be more useful if you could have more specifics, as well regular events need custom settings added as well.

I have GDR3 on my 928 but obviously the accompanying Nokia firmware hasn't come out yet.

No, they just want you to stream it over the internet, so you go over and pay them more.

Well, dunno about US, but far down here, Internet Sharing turns my Lumia 920 into a WiFi hotspot. I don't think the 920 has BT4.0 LE baked in though... Waiting for the Bittersweet Shimmer/Black update to drop by here.

Mails, FM radio are working perfectly as well. No issues with everyday use.

I have an 822 on Verizon and I have FM radio... I pay the 30.00 for internet sharing since I still have unlimited data and it works awesome. Isn't tethering free with a share everything plan? Sounds like some of your complaints are really with Verizon and not WP8... although it seems like Verizon does their best to cripple WP for whatever reason.

Verizon has an uncomfortable relationship with Microsoft going back to the Kin (ask me how I know :( ), but I generally don't like Verizon anymore for how much they control they exert via device approval on their network. Really makes it hard to stay with them when they take a few months sometimes to get the latest devices. Glad I jumped ship to go on AT&T with HTC One. The next phone I get will probably be a Lumia, but it won't be with Verizon.

I'll be with Verizon until they take away my unlimited... Plus, if you travel, Verizon just has much better coverage. driving in southern Illinois, I had LTE and my sister on ATT had 1X. Her maps couldn't even update. But I agree, Verizon is never first to the party with a new WP device.

The US market has a bizarre amount of carrier control over devices.

AT&T gets 920 exclusive. Verizon gets their own version specced out for 6 months later (and not just the global 925 with VZW radios).

AT&T gets 1520 US exclusive. They remove integrated wireless charging because it's Qi and they sit on the PMA board. Also cut storage in half.

AT&T cut the storage on the Lumia 1520 from 32 to 16 and removed wireless charging.

The new 929 that is coming to Verizon this month is rumored to be 5" instead of 6" and rumored to have the option of 32 or 64.

This round, I think I like verizon's "extra" control over a device over AT&T's.
