An Area-51 7500 comes standard with an NVIDIA® GeForce® 7950 GT GPU, a good all-around entry level GPU

... a 7950 as an entry level gpu? Tells you what kind of people buy Alienware...

If you're serious about playing modern games, I guess it would be an entry-level GPU. Remember, Alienware probably builds 8800GTX SLI systems on a regular basis.

It tells you how ridiculous PC gaming has become with all the upgrading needed to stay up to snuff. Which is why I now own a 360. The GPU peddlers can soak others in the future....I'm done with them.

for an alienware it would be:

7950 = entry level
8800GTS/GTX = mid level
8800GTS/GTX in SLi = top notch

yes sure....but please notice...there are MANY people who know *nothing* about building a PC...or wouldnt even be able to exchange a card for another.....and those are the ones who think alienware is the best of the best etc..etc :)
Think of it as "high end computers" for people who cant/dont want to build computers :)

Did you guys know that Alienware has somehow managed to make a NOTEBOOK with SLI. I had to stare at it for a minute to make sure I was reading it right.

7950gt is only 200 on the egg? Thats pretty cheap! Im sure wherever alienware gets them they are even cheaper. I would think that whoever wants an alienware, wants to do some gaming. a 7950 is a good place to start and will give you decent performace in most games.

I think he was thinking about an ODM providing the hardware for companies such Alienware to finalize and brand. You can often find hardware that is just about identical to what a company such as Alienware offers because they use the same stuff from the same ODM, only its usually MUCH cheaper due to branding and extras (often gimmicky) that Alienware includes.
