Specs:
Amd XP-M 2800 (2.08)
Asus A7n8x Deluxe
(2x)Kingston 512 3200
Maxtor 160GB HD

WoW freezes whenever I start the application, resulting in the need for a hardware reboot. I ran memtest, and that resulted in zero errors. Reinstalled the game... I've done everything but reinstall windows, and im about ready to do that.

WoW seems to be VERY picky about its ram. I mean VERY picky. One of my buddies down at college couldnt get his to run until he took out one of his sticks, even though memtest said it was fine. Try that out and see if it works...I know buying another stick of RAM or playing with half as much isnt wanted, but reinstalling windows should be a last resort.

Have you checked the technical support forums at the official WoW site? Some people have been experimenting similar problems and I think there are a couple of threads on how to solve them.

I had issues with freezing ever since I started playing the game. Most of the time it happens in ghost mode (when you die) or zoning into an instance. What I have done is reloaded my pc and updated all my drivers. Also a quick fix Ive done to bypass this lockup is do a ctrl alt delete (in xp pro) and then hit cancel to bring me back to the game. The game at that point runs fine for me, with the exception of the map in the top right corner being black. I really wish they would fix the bugginess of the game, and I have spent numerous hours emailing support about the issues. I posted a couple of months ago about freezing issues and there are some good pointers there too if you want to look back at one of my old posts. Hope this may help!

By chance do you mean your pointer freezes or the whole game?

I've got a known issue with this (pointer freeze) and a workaround.

If it happened after the recent patch, the I bet there are other people with the same problem posting on the official WoW boards.
