This card looks like the Palit model that Anandtech mentioned but didn't get a chance to cover yet.

It has a dual-slot cooler and four display outputs (2x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x Display Port) plus the audio input.

Well it seems certain that the high-end GF 9 series will have at least 1GB of on-board RAM.

likely but not certain. there's no guarantee that they won't go to an odd-sized bus again. They could probably get away with 650 or so if necessary, especially if the rumors of improved memory management are true.

If they don't adopt 1GB for the next high end I'm sure some manufacturers will whack it on there anyway. I'd really like to see some more info on this improved memory management, this card does excellently given 'only' 64 SP's.

It performs on par with the 3870/8800 GT in a lot of situations, which is surprising but shouldn't be since that used to be a trend with nVidia cards, the midrange performs the same as last gen high end. In any case I'm considering upgrading to these in SLI and just not upgrading till post-nehalem.

Add: Gotta love EVGA and their Super-superclocked
740 core clock is awfully nice if you ask me, wonder how that model performs against an overclocked GT or GTS (G92 of course).

I think that ATI/AMD is trying to open that exhaust hole up for them a little bit ;). I've heard that ATI/AMD is dropping the prices on their recent cards to take away a bit of thunder from the NVidia/Intel launch.

they've already dropped msrp's, and it's in direct response to the pricing of 9600gt and the huge recent price drops of 8800gt.

When's the high-end from ATI coming out? From what I remember 3870 was meant to be their top of the line mid-range, therefore affected by the 9600GT's released, so when is their high-end due if ever?

I was kind of hoping that wasn't the limit of their high-end :/ Was I wrong assuming there would be something like a 3900XT? :p

No, that would be the HD 3970 with the new naming conventions... wait for the R100, the specs have been leaked. Next series is HD 4XXX.
