This guy is dead in the water anyway, but here's what the clown likes the idea of:

Link

he'll ask many Americans to make sacrifices, like paying higher taxes...

Edwards, a former Democratic senator from North Carolina, says the federal government should underwrite universal pre-kindergarten, create matching savings accounts for low-income people, mandate a minimum wage of $9.50 and provide a million new Section 8 housing vouchers for the poor. He also pledged to start a government-funded public higher education program called "College for Everyone."

Holy @(*#! How much is that going to cost? HAHA.

Man, I hate the republicans and want so much to like the democrats but they are really quite awful. At least Obama, the only possible saviour to humanity has not said anything glaringly insane yet.

He wants to pay for everyone's college now too.

I think they're all vying for Socialist Of The Year.

You might as well get comfortable with the fact that within the next 20 years the U.S. will become a fully Socialist state.

Much like Britney Spears showing off her cooter "accidentally" it is inevitable.

We could easily have paid for a lot of what really needs to be done in this country, including health care, education, infrastructure and real security improvements, if the Bushwhackos hadn't already squandered trillions on their war of LIES.

As of 10/27/07 10:35 pm EDT, 3,839 American troops have died in that war, and tens of thousands more Americans are wounded, scarred and disabled for life.

What were those fscking excuses for that waste, again?

Skipping the Bushwhackos' ethical and moral disasters of their blood lettng for the moment, their financial irresponsibility in starting the war and in the endemic, rampant corruption throughtout the administration are the reasons we'll all be paying a lot more for everything from now on, regardless of who does the planning. :|

Get off it Harvey. I even agree with you that we should never have been Iraq, but that doesn't mean it would it would have been OK to waste the same money on these programs. Take your off topic bullshit elsewhere.

Meh, more of "your side is worse than mine."

Many of us are against the war, and this type of healthcare.

Bravo.

Two terms of TREASON, MURDER and total CORRUPTION make the Bushwhackos the dominant cause of the destruction of our nation's economy, along with our late, lamented Constitution and our entire society.

None of your bullshit excuses or pissing and moaning will change that reality.

Yer doin' a heck of a job, Bushie!

Bush is a terrible President. We all know that.

Still that has nothing to do with this thread.

Obama comes across as phony to me. It is especially disturbing that whenever a contraversial issue comes up, he misses the vote, so we don't really know for sure what he would push.

I would say our real hope is in Ron Paul.

Sorry, but dealing with the trillions of dollars the Bushwhackos have squandered IS the point of ANY discussion about our economic future. There is no way to deal with the lives they've squandered. :(

I dunno about anyone else, but I feal like I have to vote Republican just because the Democrats all seem to want to run our economy into the ground and add even more socialist cr@p. Either way they all a bunch of freaking idiots whose sole goal seems to screw our country as much as it takes to get elected. I just feal like the republicans who want smaller government (at least the *used* to) will screw up to a smaller degree and the democrats who want huge socialist governments will screw us to a bigger degree.

In the end I guess we'll just have to start accepting that the USA won't be the world power it once was, I think we'll still be a great country, but the period of being head and shoulders above is coming to an end.

Let's see:

- Universal Pre-kindergarden (likely for th epoor mostly)
- Gov matching saving accts for the poor
- A million more section low income housing
- Free college

Vote buying, plain & simple. Looks like there's rush to see who can offer more freebies if they're elected.

Bah, I'm holding out for a LCD wide-screen and a McMansion. He must think I'm cheap. ;)

Economically the dems are worse but in terms of "crap now we're in the middle of world war III", obviously the republicans are trying to bring that to light.

It's your leadership that ran the economy into the ground and killed the U.S. from the power that it was.

Democrats empowering the people instead of Corporations is a plan for saving the country.

1) The economy is not run into the ground.

2) All economies are cyclic but at present, ours has not stopped growing; just growing at a slower rate.

3) The Dems do not have any VALID proposals for saving the country. The candiates are operating at present on either smoke and mirrors or robbing Peter to support Paul.
Paul does not care where the handouts come from and Peter will shut off the spigot.

Bush has budgeted for $6.8 billion in funding for Head Start for 2008. In 2002, Head Start was appropriated $6.5 billion.

Head Start funds directly to local public and private nonprofit grantees. Grantees must contribute a 20% nonfederal match, which may be in cash or in-kind, unless they are granted a waiver. No more than 15% of a grantee?s total program costs may be for administration.

Regulations require that at least 90% of children enrolled by each Head Start grantee must come from families with income at or below the official federal poverty guideline ($18,100 for a family of four in 2002) or from families receiving welfare assistance. Up to 10% of the children may be from families whose incomes exceed the poverty guideline. Regulations also require grantees to reserve at least 10% of their slots for children with disabilities. Head Start is authorized to serve children at any age prior to compulsory school attendance; however, most children are 3- and 4-year-olds.

I don't know anything about Edwards program but it sounds alot like North Carolina's ""Smart Start"" program. Children in early education programs are 5 times less likely to go criminal or do drugs when they attend early education programs.

These "Socialist" threads would be more believable if the posters would ever come out against the largest Socialist progams ever created.
Such as the idea of "corporations" where an owner of a company has no responsibilty for any debts, unlike your average small business owner.
Or even come out against giving away trillions of dollars our national resources for nothing to corporations.
Or granting "franchises" to cable companies to eliminate competition.
So, in reality, these thread posters are only against "socialism" that doesn't benefit the wealthy.
