With the Dnet proxy blockage going on, I think I may just have to not flush my OGR buff-out for a little while as I would really hate to lose the 260 Gnodes that were just added to it by this one measly little stub!! :):D:p (OGR: Completed 25/19-13-20-13-20-12...)

p.s. I have heard mention of "longest stub" threads in the past, but for some reason can't seem to find any in the archives. What is the largest stub you guys have heard of? I'm sure mine isn't at the top, but it was certainly big enough for me!! (and took almost 24 hours to process) :)

I just completed a 383 Gnode stub, flanked by 45 and 22 Gnode stubs in the same machine. The longest stub was somewhere around 450 Gnodes as I recall. The shortest took only minutes to complete.

Ouch! 260 took long enough for me! I'd hate to see how long a 450 would take!! :Q

Hmmm, is there some way to calculate the size of a stub?
I'm working now for more than 20 hours on one stub (with a celly 500) and it now almost at a third. So I was wondering how big that one would be. My first very rough calcs say 55 hours @ 3.2 Mnodes but that would mean > 600 Gnodes.

It could be that I am completely wrong in my calculations, but I know for sure that it's huge...
Anybody who can help?

PunkGuy,

Unfortunately, the estimates in the client are VERY inaccurate. The first part of the stub will often crawl along, and then the last 20-30% will fly by (relatively speaking).

The newest clients don't even give percentage estimates for OGR stubs anymore, by default. They just give keyrate or absolute node counts...

I'll dig up my proxy log and get the stub numbers soon, but I just ran almost 200 OGR24 stubs in the 350-700G range mostly like these (from the client logs)

OGR: Completed 24/12-4-1-25 (414.25 stats units)
OGR: Completed 24/12-8-1-14 (602.21 stats units)

I emailed dnet because these are just too large for ogr24, though they took a good day each to process on a machine and didn't show up in stats at all (though they may be stuck in the clog) Any input??

SyZ,
Your stubs are OGR-24/4, i.e. they only have 4 differences. They will not be counted, though they may be used for verification. DNet probably released them as a test, unless they are leftovers from the first time that DNet started OGR-24. I don't remember an announcement of an OGR-24 test release, like the OGR-25/5 test release. The first time OGR-24 was started, all of the stubs had 4 differences and took a very long time.

Just for information, the largest reported OGR-24/5 stubs are:

24/2-6-9-7-13 "117,588,996,579" BobberFett
24/2-1-12-7-10 "112,100,361,411" BioHazard

Does anyone have any others to report?

It's interesting that the big/small stub issue has come up again after several months. I have had pretty average ones of 100-200 gnodes for quite a while. In the last several days I have been getting stubs that are much larger/smaller than what.

This one just came in today, the second longest for me.

I think that you can find a reference to those 24/4 stubs in the .plans from July or August. Thunder and I each did a 25/5 experimental stub, and the darn things did not get counted in our stats. :(
