Wow UI Mods?

I just got back into playing WoW again (ick... 15 dollars a month again...)

I was wondering...

When I used Cosmos before, when I went to get a quest, it would immediatelyshow me the quest, I wouldn't have to wait to accept it... now that I have that latest Cosmos, it's not doing that anymore, is there a way to turn it on? it's so freakin' tedious to wait!

Thanks!

1) Dump Cosmos.
2) Get CT Mod (w/ Raid Assist)
3) Enjoy WoW

Also, I think there is now an option in the default WoW Interface settings to enable instant quest text.

Ew, cosmos... CTMod is pretty basic but ok. I'd say try out a compilation. Nurfed is one, it uses its own frames and bars. Insomniax is another, which I believe uses all mods that already exist and were simply packaged together for those who don't want to be bothered or are new to addons. Personally I got ideas from both nurfed and insomniax, from guildies and from searching for specific things I wanted and came up with this (pic of directory).

Edit: I knew I had to have botched at least one of those links. Fixed.

Just a few additional suggestions ....

Auctioneer mod is handy

Gatherer is handy if you are a herbalist or miner

Itemrack is great if you switch between multiple sets of gear (I can't live without it on my druid, Have my tanking, FR, healing, NR, and DPS sets all accessible with the click of a button)

Recap or Damagemeters can be usefull so you can try to optimize your gear setup

Titan is pretty usefull IMO as well, especially to keep track of all the item bonuses without having to add anything up.

EDIT: Don't forget decursive if you play a class that can cleanse ....

CT makes a nice foundation for mods. It give you all the niceties, then you add all your class-specific mods individually.

I haven't uploaded any UI pics in months, but this is my latest:

Text (note my instantaneous DPS above my name - it auto-screencaptured my Multi-Shot at the same time the spiders hit my explosive trap. 😛)

Also, here is a pic that was kinda funny: Text

I use and therefore recommend:

TITANPANEL
SCROLLING COMBAT TEXT
CT-RAIDASSIST (required by my guild)
RECAP

All integrate flawlessly and work "out of date"

Yeah, that's also a great thing. After each patch, simply click "Load out-of-date addons" and continue on.

second vote for Insomniax - its got all the major ones you would want

CTMOD
auctioneer
benecast
titan panel

and more

Compilations are definitely a good starting point, but once you have a better idea what you do and don't want, you either mix & match addons or end up settling for what someone else liked and put in their compilation. Stuff you don't want is just sitting there eating up ram. Nurfed came with gatherer, for instance - an addon I disabled since none of my characters are miners or herbalists. Shardtracker too - only one of my alts is a warlock, and seeing how many shards he has is as simple as opening my bags, so it got the axe as well.

As far as breaking after patches, it only happens if the underlying functionality of an addon was changed. 1.11 had some major interface changes but only broke 2 and a half of my addons out of all of them. I didn't really like CTMod personally, though I do like the stopwatch style timer and the mail mod, and of course, you don't raid without CTRaidAssist. So I kept only those parts.

for my warrior: ctmod, ctraid, nurfed HUD, itemrack (gotta get this if you swap gear often!), gatherer, titanpanels, and auctioneer

A pleasant time can be had ignoring paladins whenever you see them. Polymorph, slow, daze, stun - and ignore. That's what they are for, to be ignored. Ignoring paladins is the proper horde response.

By all means, if there are no others to kill and you are feeling generous murder it.

Otherwise, slowstundazesheep and, you guessed it, ignore.

I guee when the expansion comes out, I'll get to experience killing Paladins in PvP. I hate that Blizzard threw in the flag on Faction balance, but I guess after ~2 years of "No fair! [Horde/Alliance] has the advantage in [scenario] because they have [Pallies/Shammies]!! " whining...

A scaleable SnD bar, sorta like a cast bar. I have mine set to only show when SnD is up. The newest version has non-removable AR/BF buttons (supposed to only show when those skills are refreshed but shows constantly), which I didn't like, so I got an older version without that.

if i had AR and BF it might be worth it lol

and i can watch the buff bar just fine CT style works for me

Yeah, part of why I didn't like the newest version. I thought the buff bar was fine as well, till i found something better )

Er... and how don't you have ar/bf as a sword rogue? 20/31 swords is the best damage you can do other than combat daggers.

A paladin is a smokescreen for alliance. Rarely do I ever bother to even attempt to kill them until they pop their bubble. Between bubbles and lay on hands, it's pointless to spend the time killing them. I just sheep and move on. This is especially effective against pallies, as most tend to use the bubble to get out and either resume healing or start chasing me. I have to deal with 10 seconds of kiting, or instant casts on other targets at that point. Improved counterspell when they start to heal, and it's all over. They don't have many options beyond bubbling, and without a priest shield power locking out the holy tree is normally the end of a paladin.

Also it looks like a good handoff of damage in fights between you and the mages. I'm assuming you reset the meters between fights?

we can all hail class balance for Burning Crusade. Alliance and Horde get Shamans and Paladins, respectively.

although i don't play, i'd like to play again to see. Though i'm not gonna shell out a planned $50 bucks +15 monthly to 'experience' alliance shaman.
