Wow! Toyota FT-1 Concept

What happens when a GT-R and an LFA have a baby?

More info here.

By the time it gets to production it will look like another scion.

Toyota is one of the worst for showing amazing concepts, then magically turning the production car into the most boring turd possible.

...it's still shaped like a Skyline. Granted, a Skyline wearing a giant penis extension. It's trying to be an E-type or maybe just a BMW Z3 in that respect.

Is it supposed to be doing the 'front mid-engine' kinda thing? I think it's the Ferarri California that's like that...engine in front, but the hood is so damn long that the engine sits to the rear of the front axle.

Also, I thi- OH MOTHER OF GOD I JUST GOT TO THE PICTURES OF THE BACK. KILL IT WITH FIRE.

It looks like Roger Ebert's jaw.

Any comments on the engine?

Some say it's will be a tuned version of a BMW-sourced I6.

On a second look, I see that I missed the little window near the cowl. They're definitely going for shifting the engine as far back as possible, which makes me doubt an I6. Also, Toyota makes perfectly good I6's and all, anway...why would they source from BMW?

A 90* V engine would be my guess for a production car. Probably a V6 rather than a V8.

But that concept has got nothing in it, surely. Just a little engine cover somebody made to stick under that window.

The side profile looks nice.. every other angle is D:

This. There's way too much going on with all the angles and bits. Needs to look a little cleaner like the original Supra.

It will probably be over 30k if this ever comes out since the FRS is already occupying the 25k price point.

I'm hearing 50k+.

Looks like what you'd get if the F12 and FR-S had a kid. With a huge nose.

Like a lot of modern cars, looks great from some angles and wonky from others.

Its good to see that Toyota can make something that isn't just edges and creases all over (Lexus...).

It looks fitting for the name Supra, but that also likely means this would be GT-R/NSX money and I guess maybe I was hoping for something that was more in line with the Corvette. They could still make that megabuck hybrid NSX competitor off the platform, but they'd win more people over with the $40-50k equivalent of an FRS with a good V8. They could also lux/soften that up and sell it as a Lexus (er actually didn't they just show off a Lexus concept like that?).

If this isn't powerful (as in 400+ HP) it will be another underpowered slow import that looks fast but can't keep up with a lot of 4-door sedans. Hope that's not the case.

I really like Kia GT4 Stinger concept a lot:

I'd definitely buy one today if it looked like that

Really? The Kia concept looks like a turd to me...I thought the top-view 'sneak peak' was great, until I actually saw the concept. No Thanks.

The Toyota has an AMAZING side profile. I would expect the front and back to clean-up with less 'busi-ness' in the production model, and if tastefully done, will be great. I will get this car if it is <50K and >450hp.

How are they going to sell the HP you want for that kind of price? Nobody sells that level of HP for that price except for the Mustang which is really really 'meh' outside of a big HP number.

Toyota haven't made anything exciting since the Supra and those weren't cheap for the turbo MkIVs (as well as the fact that the remaining ones keep appreciating).
