and Klixxer do you smoke crack AIC was a grundge band Tool is a hard rock band you cant compair the 2, I love AIC and tool, the are on compleatly different ends of the spectrum
Hey, did you just say that Tool is a hard rock band? Eh, no. AC/DC is hard rock, Helloween is hard rock, Tool is NOT hard rock, it is rock for teenage angsty people.
Creed is rock.
AC/DC is hard rock but borderline metal....
Ok, the definition must have changed since i listened to Saxon, Maiden, AC/DC and others but that was Hard rock back then, tool doesn't even come close. Then came all the metal bands.
I still think tool isn't hard rock, but i might be out of the current definition status. 😛

"rock" is very broad. Tool is probably one of the heavier rock bands that you'll find played on a regular "rock" station.
Our hard rock station will play Metallica, maiden, pantera, ozzy, etc.. but those're really metal bands. It's the only way to differentiate themselves from the "softer" station, though.

Klixxer: Http://www.allmusic.com puts both AC/CD and Tool in the "Rock" Genre
Tool's styles are listed as "Heavy Metal, Alternative Metal" AC/DC has "Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Album Rock, Aussie Rock, Arena Rock"
this is what fusks up so many damn people there isnt a clear definition
Arch enemy is "Rock" as well with "Death Metal/Black Metal, Heavy Metal" for stlyes

Guess I'm in the minority of people that aren't all that impressed with Tool. I like a few of their songs. I like APC a lot more. I like a good heavy song now and then but Tool just doesn't do it for me. I can't quite put my finger on why.

Tool....pfft.
I don't like his vocals, personally. But I hate his band, why? Because there are people who worship the band like God, believing all music is far inferior and comparing everything to Tool.
Somethingawful.com has written a "your band sucks" article on Tool, and they're %100 right.
Well that's good. I've got lots of things that.... erm, scratch me 😛 I like some good heavy stuff but I stick more to the rock side of things. I like things like Metallica, Gn'R, Sevendust, RHCP, Skynyrd, Hendrix, and I've liked them for a while now, but I've been on a big 2 Skinnee J's kick lately (they're not really rock, though).Originally posted by: Arkitech
These guys are really scratching my itch, I've been looking for a heavy sound with a melodic feel and Tool fits the bill perfectly for me.

Fixed that for you 😛
There's plenty of great music out there, just hardly any of it is recent.
