It's been a long time since i've been on here. I just got back from deployment (South Pac) I feel like I was locked up for ever!!! So what have I been missing out since Nov of 06...
 
Why do they call if the "World Wide Web" if it doesn't exist in the South Pacific???

Were you in a submarine or one of those little grass huts on an island listening to a radio for 24 hours a day??
 
the internet on the ship is SUPER SLOW... plus a lot of things are blocked and on top of all that we were in river city(internet/email secured) most of the time because of drug runners

Secured, meaning what? You couldn't use it?
 
secured meaning no outgoing traffic. We only get internet once a week to save bandwidth for message traffics and other important stuff. We do watch movies and play cards games and bingo though

A few years ago when I was in grad school, I went into the shared lab early one morning and saw a sign that one of the other students had left. It said something like, "This vacuum chuck no longer works. Someone left the vacuum on all night and I think we ran out."


BTW, watching movies, playing cards, and bingo.... for eight months on a ship. Were there women on this ship?? We know what goes on in prison... 😀
