Wow this is scary (end of universe)

I was just reading the last chapter in my Astronomy book and it says that protons (yes, the ones that make up the atoms of our body) are unstable because they contain 3 quarks and have a half-life of 10^28 years. So maybe in 10^28 years you'll be sitting there watching TV and half of you will decay into electrons or some other particle....

ok, you are thinking too hard. Seriously.

If it weren't for my hourse, I never would have made it through that year at college.

Oh, bummer.. Only 10^28 years.

I'm pretty sure the sun is due to go nova before then.

Maybe in 10^27 years, some other catastrophe will destroy all neutrons first..

Protons are in everything, not just your body.

Yeah, our sun will be gone, but the rest of the universe will just decay and eventually become dark forever (atleast that's what the book says happens after all the stars use up their fuel and all this decay happens)...

Thanks, at least I have a hope this nightmare called life won't last forever.

-DAK-

It would probably be a "Not An Exit" sign. 🙂

Hey, wanna buy a TV? You pay me now and I'll reserve one for you so you can watch it on that day. Making reservations for TV's to be available in 10^28 years, just a small down payment required.

Edit: Due to inflation, if you pay for the whole TV now, it'll be like getting one for free when that year comes.

Yeah, the only problem with that is that every experiment to observe proton decay has failed.

So don't worry, you've got at least 10^33 years.

Hehe...did anyone have an aneurysm? 😀

I love Lewis Black.

by that time I don't even know what I will be... get a tv? crap, by that time I probably don't even know what a TV is 🙂 haha

Dont worry, god will save you. That is if you happen to be the 1 in 1,000,000 who happens to believe in the correct faith that only he/she acknowledges. Religious types don't believe in protons, neutrons, and other "science" things so they'll all be ok.

Interesting. Physics has a few problems. No protons seen to decay and no Higgs. GUI's are being brought into question. Here's a question that might gall ya'

What if people aren't smart enough to figure it all out?
