This all, of course, must bring any thinking person to confront the absurd and nonsensical logic of those gun control advocates and antigun politicians who claim they want to ban those 'evil awful deadly high powered military rifles and assault weapons whose only purpose is to kill people' while assuring the hunting and sportshooting communities that their 'legitimate' firearms will be left alone because they're 'not after legitimate firearms'.

Ok, so let me get this straight: You want to ban military and paramilitary firearms, but you want protect hunting and sporting rifles which, on average, can range anywhere from being two to five times MORE POWERFUL than the 'awful deadly and high powered' firearms you want to ban? ALLLL-RRRIGHTY THEN!

This position completely defies reason, logic, and common sense. There are only two possible reasons for advocating a position which is positively contradictory and illogical in nature:

- these gun control advocates and antigun politicians are fantastically ignorant about firearms and they don't realize the inherent contradiction and absurdity in what they're advocating

- these gun control advocates and antigun politicians are not ignorant at all and are well aware that what they advocate defies all reason and logic, but they have a hidden agenda which is exceptionally dishonest and deceptive

We know that antigun organizations and gun control advocates enlist the services of people who are very knowledgable about firearms, for purposes of research, formulating position papers articulating their support for gun control, rendering testimony and expert opinion, and who damned well know that hunting and sporting rifles are typically MORE POWERFUL than the 'military' and 'paramilitary' firearms they seek to have banned.

I personally, just as few thousand other gun owners, enthusiasts, and firearm experts, have written letters to more than a dozen gun control supporting politicians plainly spelling out for them with painstaking and easily verified clarity how their position defies all logic and reason. I usually get nothing in response, or a form letter response parroting the same ridiculous rubber stamp position.

One would have to be exceptionally naive or just deliberately blind to conclude that their flawed position is the result of 'innocent ignorance'. Bullsh-t, they know damned well what they're doing.

I at least half-way respect those antigun organizations such as the Violence Policy Center who do not attempt to deceive people about their goals and agenda. The Violence Policy Center freely admits it seeks to have all guns banned, every last one of them, starting with the public, and moving on to the police, then to the military. I respect that, its honest, unlike the other 90% of the gun control community.

Real Smart: What do you do when some lunatic gets elected and decides to become dictator?
Do we chase him down and beat him with sticks?

Unless I missed somethingt (entirely possible) tcsenter is anti-gun control. If that was not who you were targetting your post to, sorry, Im tired ;)

On another note...
I just love how people who know nothing or damn close to it, on the other side of the effing country decide they know what is going on and know how to fix the problems that happen to be going on here. I love hearing Californians (not picking on you specificallly ;)) comment so much on what we DC Metro Area people should be doing. Its just lovely.

for People to be killed,by guns, arrows, rocks, etc.

It is Not even funny that some wacko is shooting and hurting/killling other people.
It is a very Sad thing that we have some person shooting at people, and the Police have not
been able to catch this criminal.

In England it is illegal to own almost any kind of a firearm, and people are still getting killed with them.
:(
What if this wack was using a bow and arrow?

I wish all the luck to the Police in catching the person doing this!

Actually, there is a "Chicken Cannon" that's used to fire (dead) chickens at the windscreens used in jets - to test and certify the ability of the windscreen to resist bird strikes.

Of course, noone would actually want to use one for murders....it'd PO the animal rights folks.

Then again, you never know, maybe we should start now with the registration and fingerprinting / profiling of all chickens, just in case.

Headline of the future: "Police poll population: Perpetrator Perils People with Precision Projectile Pullets"

Yeah, fer sher, we should get 'em all in the books now. We're talkin' a DANGEROUS situation here.....but I'm betting that the Anti-rooster registration folks (you know, the NRA - National Rooster Association) will lobby hard to prevent that kind of law from being passed though. If we can save JUST ONE CHILD from being brutalized by high-velocity hens, isn't it worth the effort?

It'd be soooooooo much easier for the anti-gun folks if they only had some in-context, undistorted facts on their side of the argument.

Anyway....FWIW

Scott

No, no no. I meant the members of the NRA would be sending their bullets to the snipper at muzzle velocity.

Sorry for being unclear.

I hope that they catch this amatuer real soon. This guy is no pro, hes some psycho amatuer loser. I have a .243 rifle, the next step up from the 223. It is a great shooting weapon that's light and easy to shoot with little to no recoil. The point that I am making is that the 223 that the sniper is using, is a great starter gun that almost anyone can learn to shoot easily with, even little kids. When you pop a scope on the thing it's almost impossible to miss unless you are far away, it's windy, or that youre a terrible shot. The fact that this sniper hasn't placed any head shots I believe shows that he is an amatuer. It is not hard to place a body shot from 100 to 150 yards and one victim was shot in the shoulder and the school boy was shot in the stomach. A real marksmen would know how to factor in wind/bullet drop/angle etc and he wouldn't be that off in shots where the victim was standing around. I don't see how the NRA is refusing to help in the matter at all. As far as the ballistics tests go, I am no expert, but couldn't you change the rifling patterns if you ran some steel wool down the barrel, or sanded the bullet before firing? For the record I own 5 different guns used for target shooting and hunting and no member of my family belongs to the NRA.

Good info tscenter. At least someone knows what he's talking about.

It's wonderful how the retards in the media shoot a gallon of water, which explodes, then says "and remember, the human body is almost all water!"

Or saying that ARs were banned for civilian use.

Lots of misinformation, ah well, what can ya do.
