I have a couple of gripes about the game:

1) The music can get annoying (especially the one for the hacking mini-game)
2) Hacking leapgates can get so damn annoying
3) One thing I loved about Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords was the amount of classes there were. Galactrix does not have classes.

The game is fun but I would gladly go back to the first PQ in a heartbeat.

I'm still just getting into it, but it appears that the strategy is still intact although slightly different. One of the major differences that takes getting used to is the playing grid. In the first PQ it was a box shaped playing grid, in PQ:G its kinda like a hexagon shaped grid. Because of this the gems move into the field of play a lot differently, also it's a bit harder to get multiple moves in one turn like in the old PQ. But then again I'm still getting used to the game so it maybe I just have'nt figured out all the angles yet. However I'm still having a blast playing it, I really love the scifi perspective.

I actually kind like the music, maybe it's just me but I thought it was really atmospheric and well done.

I can understand why people might get a little frustrated with this part of the game, but so far it has'nt really bothered me. (not yet anyway)

I had a fantastic time...for about 4-6 hours. Then I got seriously frustrated/bored. Luck seemed to play too big a role in combat, and hacking those damned gates got to be a repetetive exercise whose completion depended entirely upon whether or not the needed pieces appeared in sufficient quantity to enable matching. Close but no cigar for me.

Still holding out hope for Puzzle Kingdoms.

does the computer cheat like it does in the original?

i was playing against one enemy last night and he took like 5 or 6 turns every turn, and he wasn't even getting 4 in a rows!

Did you check his equipment pontifex? It's not so much cheating as the enemies can have some very powerful equipment.

no i didn't. i didn't even realize they could have equipment. i've never seen anything that gives me more turns so i assumed there wasn't anything like that in the game.

I've seen several, typically on boss type enemies, that grant an extra turn for some action or another. On the battle screen, right below their portrait is their equipment, mousing over tells you what it does.
You, of course, aren't going to get anything like that.

is this better than the original?

I beat the final boss rather easily without having to invest time into any equipments or special items.

after I beat him, it got real boring real fast.
