Wow. The new Beasties album sucks...

I'm sorry, but Paul's Botique = ownage. Easily one of the most underrated albums ever, and most independent reviewers agree.

What a disappointment. As weak as the first single, "Ch-Check It Out" is, it's the best song on the album.

So am I the only one who absolutely love this new album? Also, I'm usually 'meh' on the beastie boys, their only other album I used to have before giving away was Licence to Ill.

I'm not sure if I am more disappointed in Beasties...or Velvet Revolver.....

The Velvet Revolver debut is actually pretty good. I don't know WTF you are thinking!

The album has generally gotten favorable reviews so far.........so I am not the only one who thinks so.....

Douche...you realize that music is subjective don't you? Besides, you are the one who said that it is growing on you. An album that has as many talented people on it as it does, shouldn't have to grow on you, in my opinion....

Uhhhh, I liked it to begin with. Now I like it even more.

Already resorting to name calling eh?

Oh yeah thanx for the enlightenment that music is subjective.

aren't they like 30-something now ? I can't imagine their punk-attitudes to shine through in their music now... besides, it all sounds the same to me..

Try 40's. One of them even is going grey (and not trying to hide it). The thing I love about the album is that the lyrics are very . . . real. In the sense that it feels like they are just rapping about whatever they feel like, if it be politics (We've got a president we didn't elect - The Kyoto treaty he decided to neglect, and still the U.S. just wants to flex - Keep doin' that wop we gonna break our necks) or cheese (can't find it right now, might get an edit if I'm less lazy, but damn its halarious)

P.S., if your see it on rack for a listed, check out the songs "Triple Trouble" and "An Open Letter to NYC" Those two really stood out to me on the first listen.

Word. In some sense I'm regretting buying it since the copy protection on it is really bad. Oddly enough though - WMP has no problem playing it and nothing else can touch it. I wonder if autorun did something weird to my computer. It's definatly copy protected though - there is a nice big label on the back attesting to the fact.

Try "Paul Revere", then "Brass Monkey", then "Intergalactic", "And Me", then "Dr Lee, PhD."

Tell me they all sound the same after that.

And Girls, just because its damned funny 😛

Really? Sh!t. Well, I'll pick it up and find out for myself, but since I DID like "Ch-ch-check it out" I think I have more of a chance of enjoying it than you did. 🙂

Well I just bought the album b/c I have every other one of their albums. Now this is coming from a HUGE Beastie Boys fan (In my Top 3 favorite groups of all time) and I'll say that this album is 2 stars out of 5 MAX! Maybe it still has to grow on me but the entire album sounds like the background riffs were done with either 1 bass drum, a snare and a cymbol....or by the person who did the 2 Live Crew albums back in the 80s and 90s. Their lyrics are still funny and catchy but the variety is just not there on this album. So now do I not only think that they have tried to turn their music into politics which is very lame in itself, but I think their music isn't good either. They can never take away their old stuff from me though!

Back to Licensed to Ill, Paul's Boutique, Check your Head, and Ill Communication I guess.

After listening to it exensively, I can say that while it is not their best album, its not terrible. There's 3-4 definitely good songs on there with good flow, beat, etc. and the rest aren't unlistenable, just mostly unremarkable.

If Licensed to Ill was a 10/10, this is a 7/10.

Up till this point, every album had the Beasties re-inventing themselves somewhat. Unfortunately, with this album, they only rehash Hello Nasty, but in a mediocre and uninspired way.

i believe a few of the songs you listed have the EXACT bass line in them but if not them, i know "girls" shares a bass line with another one or 2 of their songs.

I was really hoping for a second "Licensed to Ill" caliber CD 🙁 🙁 🙁

I think I'll go home and listen to Licensed to Ill.

Don't put it in your computer. Supposedly it has some program to stop you from ripping it that is actually closer to a virus.

They sucked the minute they stopped doing drugs and drinking and became "socially conscience."

*smacks ad-rock* SHUT UP AND BE MORE FUNNY!

This brings up the point they have fully intergrated M$ DRM (Digital rights MAnagemnt) into the Cd . FU MS and FU sell-out Beastie Boys. Hopping turnstiles my ass.

Umm . . . you have no clue. The beastie boys actuially fought against this -- the CD's relesed in the US and UK have no copy protection -- but they could not do anything about the other markets. There is post on their website about this.
