Wow, the Japanese sure are a weird bunch.

TOKYO ? As Toyota Motor Corp. faces its biggest crisis in its history, speculation is growing it may turn to the charismatic magic of Akio Toyoda, groomed for years to lead the company his grandfather founded.

The maker of the Prius hybrid and Lexus luxury cars is sinking into its first operating loss in seven decades ? a stunning reversal of fortunes for the icon of Japan Inc.

And a flurry of speculation is flying that president Katsuaki Watanabe may step down in the next few months and Mr. Toyoda, an executive vice president, be tapped to lead ? earlier than expected. Unlike their Western counterparts, Japanese executives are widely expected to resign to take responsibility for dismal results.

The Japanese and their crazy ways never cease to amaze me.

why is it crazy? a ceo taking responsibility for the company he runs is crazy?

hopefully its not like america where the ceo gets paid millions to run his company into the ground.

Yes they are...and that's why we attempted to nuke them from outer space...it's the only way to be sure...even back then...

Sounds good to me. We could adopt the same policy here in the States.

Kind of like in sports here. When a team underperforms, the coach takes the fall while they keep the players. Sure, these guys are resigning, but that's because there's a pressure to do so, which makes it essentially the same as getting fired.

*scribbles down failure to note sarcasm*

Yup, the corporate culture is completely different in Asian countries. I think executive compensation is also must lower in Japan (six figures on average, compared to seven or eight for American CEOs).

How is this crazy? The greed of our CEO's in the US is what is destroying this economy. And why do we have to bail them out? The big 3 don't deserve to be around with the crap they are producing. They think we as consumers are stupid. You see some of the crap cars that come out? It is an insult to us sometimes.

You're surprised because you've never heard of honor and loyalty? You probably never heard of shame either, something American CEOs don't have.

America teaches us that its always someone elses fault. Its also okay to take candy from a kid if you did it legally through court.

Depriving the company of experienced leadership during a downturn seems a bit harebrained.

Sticking around to bail out of a mess is more honorable than quitting when the going gets tough.

Those crazy people, with their logic and accountability 😉 (and tentacle anime pr0n! )

Japanese tentacle porn predates interaction with Westerners. Yes, there are Ukiyo-e blocks of tentacle porn.
