Wow tech support engineer $350/wk

MUST HAVE 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS TECH SUPPORT ENGINEER, KNOWLEDGE OF 2000 SERVER, CISCO PIX SERVER SYSTEMS. WILL MANAGE TECHNICAL SYSTEMS & SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUC TURE. DAYS/HRS TO BE ARRANGED. 40HRS/WK



let me see that's less than $9 per hour. Who would take this job other than someone living at home still?

This is in South Florida where a 2/2 is about $1k-1.2k per month and a 1/1 is about $800-1,000 per month.

Probably want certs too.

Most employers will start you out at a rediculously low salary figure and give you a nice bump once you prove your worth. I've had this happen several times.

Of course there are always those that don't pay their employees squat though too!

The problem is not the certs, they are easy to get if you have the time. The problem is getting Joe Geek that lives at home and whose parents still pay his bills to not take a job at $9-10 per hour.

In perspective, my county is hiring School Bus Rider's, they basically make sure that the driver doesn't molest anyone and help make sure the kids are ok....Salary: $9.57 Per Hour...you do need CPR certification though

I was called about a programming job (ASP/VB) and when the guy asked 'what would I need to come on board' and I said no less than $18/hr to start he gagged. Then he said he had two kids working at $12.50 or something, told me he could go to $13 'cause I had a degree'....I told him no way.

That said, I would take the job if I had "2 years experience as a tech support engineer".

Considering minimum wage in Oregon is ~7.05, I'd be happy with ~9.

During a Comp. HR class the teacher, a former head HR person, said someone called and wanted her to tell the soon to be grads of a job. So she was happy and said ok fax me all the details. They faxed over a job and she looked at it and said it was a good entry level job... til she got to the pay part, $7 a hour. She said she juts put it in the trash.

I know the job market is tough, but when it picks up again all these low pay people will leave and that business will be left with a bunch of people that need FULL training and will not think twice from taking all the red staplers home they want

Let's see $9 * 2080 = 18,720/year, not including OT.

My first accounting job paid 7.69/hour. Stayed there for a year, pushed to get two raises during that time, then moved to a company that paid about 25K.

Low starting pay happens in all fields. and yes, I look at 2 years experience as entry level, because most, not all, but most companies put what they want in experience in an ad, not what they'll accept. It's quite possible this company is hoping they find that desperate experienced engineer, but will probably end up having to hire that new graduate.

of the people looking for jobs.

I see job postings on job boards all the time that fit the above criteria. damn vultures.
