Don't take this the wrong way, but have you checked out the official site?

World of Warcraft features

Four years have passed since the aftermath of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and a great tension now smolders throughout the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the battle-worn races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and ominous, arise to plague the world once again.

World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. Being "Massively Multiplayer," World of Warcraft allows thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory.

It's not the same as the other Warcraft games, but it uses the same settings, races and continues the storyline. It's an RPG, where you play with thousands of other people, questing, fighting, crafting, and battling the other races. You level up and get higher stats, better abilities and better gear.

it been a blast for me and i dont really like warcraft 3. I think you have to go ask for a quest, do it and then report back to him/her. but i am in low level so there are more aspect of the game, like grouping to do quest and raid. there are profession and talent tree too. the best thing if you are new is to find a guild on your serve and join them, people in guild will help out.

No, I hadn't seen the site, but thanks for the link, I've just watched friends play it briefly, and couldn't afford it at the time.

ya, there are a ton of web sites with more info than any of us can give you. If you can play on a friend's account for a hour or two, you should give it a try. It would also be good if you can use their higher-level character so you know what it's like in further in the game.

It's apples and oranges. One game is an RTS and the other a RPG. You'll recognize the races and classes but the gameplay is not at all similar. The basics in WoW......you kill stuff. You kill stuff to increase the character level of your toon. The higher the level of your toon, the more powerful monsters you can kill. The more powerful monsters you kill, the richer you become. You become rich by looting coin, equipment, weapons from the dead monsters you kill. Then when you become legendary filthy rich and own uber equipment you become respected by fellow MMORPG gaming geeks. And then you can talk sh*t to everyone about how great you are. Then you get tired of all this and retire, sell your toon on ebay, and write a book.

I hear ya. I'm absolutely obsessed with this game. I've only played about 30 minutes of HL2. I have no desire to play it. WoW has consumed me.

lol, glad I didn't buy HL2 yet, I would never, and I mean never play it...

Anyways, think of the Heros in WC3, you know how they get experience and they can get uber buff?

It is kinda(loosley) like that, only there are 60 levels, and only one map, but it is huge and super immersive
