6'6" 270, roided, rage and paranoia. You got problems, and personally I think you are the one who should move. Is it fair? No. But given the alternatives:

1. - You get a restraining order, which forces him to move, so now he has a REAL greivance, and he knows exactly where you live.

2 - You get a gun, he forces his way in while you are sleeping and you either:

a: kill him - IMO, not a nice thing to have to live with, no matter how justified
b: are groggy and sleepy, you miss he kills/maims you
c: wound him - (see 1. above)

Of course, it's possible none of this would happen, but I sure as hell would not be comfortable taking that chance.

Not as life altering as it would be to be murdered by this guy
I would never feel remorse for killing someone in defense of my own life....

you need to make peace with this guy and settle the issue as to what it is he believes you did

i would suggest doing this before he snaps and goes on a rampage....judging from his behavior this is only a matter of time.

I agree with you, I'm not saying that I couldn't use a gun on someone if they forcibly entered my apartment, or were causing iminent bodily injury to me or my girlfriend, I'm more concerned about using it in a situation that might not be justified. I think if I get one that I will definitely take some gun safety classes.

That is an excellent idea. I personally prefer a handgun instead of the shotgun approach, but thats just me.

This is my dilemma, I have no problems moving, I have 6 months left on my lease, but I'm sure the complex will be understanding, perhaps let me move to another of their properties. Both of your points are ones that I've considered.

Also I live in Florida, a state that passed the "Make my day law" and upholds the castle doctrine, but according to the police last night we would not have been justified in shooting him outside of our apartment. Not that I felt this was an option anyways.

Of course steroids are the reason he's irrational. Whenever there's a large guy with personality issues they're on steroids. Maybe he's just plain crazy? Roid rage is largely a myth. Now when someone goes off of certain steroids their personalilty can change, but they typically get depressed, not aggressive.

First I would try some sort of tazer. But if that didn't work....410 Revolver
Best home defence gun IMHO. Short range, creates a massive wound, not likely to go through walls.

The last time someone came to my house and caused trouble I whipped his ass. He's no problem to me now.

If you think there's a chance this might work, it would probably be the best option.

sometimes people have bad days, and if they're huge and prone to anger, it can become more than one person's bad day . . .

I've actually been in similar (though somewhat less threatening) situations before. I found that the angry, threatening asshole in that experience became a very decent guy to me when I took the chance to talk to him. I think it may humble some of these people a little when you show them you are willing to be a bigger man than him (metaphoirically speaking). I'd much rather have him on my good side.

I'd suggest mornings, as people are less likely to be wasted on something then.

I dunno. That tactic is only really effective if he's standing in front of a bottomless pit.

I <3 Texas. Deadly force can be used to protect person and property. Just don't shoot them in the back, if you do just have a good story as dead men tell no tales.

I bet you guys would start crying, and go hide in the basement that you live in at your parents' home.

I'm not on anything. I'm one of the few people that actually did some research on the topic, rather than blindly buying into what the media wants the public to believe.
