Well, under American law things like kitties and puppies are property. It sucks, but that's the way it is. The 1 year was probably for some combination of animal cruelty and destruction of personal property. Since the law really only recognizes the sentience (is that the word I want to use? cognizance, maybe? I dunno) of humans they can't get her for torture or anything more serious than some high-grade misdemeanors/low-grade felonies.

I hope there's a cat lover inside prison that doesn't mind breaking a few knee caps.

I say cram her into one of those industrial size rotisseries like at Sam's Club/Costco and see how she likes it, then feed her to the animals at a shelter.

Lethal injection? Waste of time and money. Hanging or firing squad works perfectly well.

waste of rope or bullets? :p

Hey, with hanging you can probably get a lot of use out of one rope before you have to replace it.

No, but they clearly could've gotten her for burglary (breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony), since not only did she intend to, but probably did complete a felony while inside. Could even argue that leaving the oven on was attempted arson (factual impossibility is no defense).

The plea just sped things up and made sure she did time. She was going to do time anyway, but probably damn close to the same amount, but with the time and expense of a trial.

Really, how much time she's doing here is less important to me than to what kind of prison she'll be assigned? Since she's a repeat with a violent past, could be maximum security. Killing a cat isn't going to get her much cred there.

Snap her neck maybe?

Sure, she is a waste of effort of any kind, but to save humanity from her malice and hatred it'd be worth it.

She sounds like a terrible person, but considering that the other side is animal activists, I just don't know who is more despicable.

I'd have little issue with somebody taking care of this worthless piece of shit in a gruesome manner.

You can be an -activist- for animal rights without going overboard and demanding no animal ever be used for any purpose.

Big difference between demanding someone be a Vegan and recognizing that murdering a kitten in a 500 degree oven is wrong.

I have to say that what she did was reprehensible, but if I ever found myself in a position to be protested by animal rights groups, I'd probably taunt them too. At least, I would if it were PETA.

under usual circumstances I'd agree with you, but bitch needs to die

I believe most of the push for justice against her has been led by the ASPCA, not PETA. ASPCA is a really good group (as opposed to PETA that just tries to get attention). I'd encourage anyone to donate money to them to help prevent crap like this.

www.aspca.org

Sadly, you cannot prevent "crap like this," you can only remove the defective humans from society. There are no deterrents for this kind of aberrant behavior. While many disagree on the type of removal from society that such behavior deserves, I personally believe that this type of mental aberration should result in being 'recycled with extreme prejudice.'

I think she did plead guilty to burglary. At least, that was mentioned in one article.

Put her down. She has nothing of any value to contribute to society or anyone else. That and she'll probably evolve into a psychotic killer.

unfortunately, the whackos are the ones that get most of the media coverage, as well as are the most vocal when things like this happen.

It is true that they get the most attention, but I think we owe it to ourselves to discern the wheat from the chaff and know that demanding people not eat eggs is different from demanding people not shove cats in the oven.

I am just..so pissed that this ... hateful sociopath gets a year for breaking into a home and MURDERING someones cat! That cat was a living member of their family.

I love my cats, I feed them, play with them, teach them, and take them for walks.

I love all my animals so much...if I caught someone hurting one of them, I don't know what I'd do to them...
