WoW serial key question

1. i have burning crusade DVD with serial key
2. i do NOT have original WoW DVD or serial key (i lost them)
3. i downloaded the 10-day trial original WoW client two days ago

question: if i install TBC from DVD and enter the serial key will i still have to purchase a retail original WoW serial key if i want to play TBC content?

also, even though my account is frozen, it still exists on blizzard's servers as being a TBC membership.

please forgive my ignorance.
 
Login to battle.net. You should be able to just download any game you have registered. If you have a wow account, you can just dl the game once you've logged in.

Yes, I believe that WoW requires you to tie your key to your battle.net account so you should always have it unless you lose your account. Older games had to be added manually, but newer ones such as WoW and SC2 get added when you register, IIRC.
 
ok wait, it sounds like you guys (after ravenseal) are saying that as long as my account was not deleted or lost that i should be able to DL the original WoW client as a fully upgraded client (ie - as if i typed in serial number).

is that correct?
 
Every expansion contains the last one. You only need to download the expansion you want, it has the original. Though you have to buy each separate.

Incorrect. For WOW, the original plus each expansion still needs to be purchased separately if you wish to level your character pas 1-60, 60-70, 70-80, 80-85 respectively on the levels that each expansion covers.

The only exception to this rule is the WoW Battlechest which includes the original plus TBC.

It will show you what your serial is when you log into battle.net's website. Why don't you just try it?

:EDIT: Scratch that; that's the behavior for old games. With new games such as WoW and SC 2, you should just be able to log into your account on battle.net's website and download the game.
