Wow, seems like my diet is working

Okay, so I made myself some promises for the new year.. I recently found out that what our family of four would eat in a day, would normally be eaten by a family of ten. I had dinner with a friend of mine, and when he was full, I was like:"Nice appetizer, where's the main course?" In other words, I'm kind of fat (~6'0", ~170 lbs, 15 years old, nearly 16), and I wanted to lose weight. I looked up some things on the internet, and I found out that on an average day, I would get anywhere from 5000 to 7000 kcal. I even got 4700 kcal when I skipped lunch.

So, currently I'm dieting, trying to get no more than 1500 kcal a day. I've been doing it for 10 or 11 days now, and I've lost about 10 pounds. The thing is, I don't see a difference anywhere. I still have a big gut, big legs, surprisingly muscular calves etc. etc.. When and where will I see a difference?

Also, I'm constantly hungry. If I've lost enough weight to be healthy, and I'd start eating 'normal' (~3k kcal a day), would I still feel hungry? I guess I have a really big stomach from overeating so much for so long.. Will it shrink?

Also, I'm currently saving up to be able to exercise.. I'd run, but I have a really bad back (hereditary condition, my dad's had 5 hernia's already, the first when he was 17. Doctors are guessing my first one (they're sure I'll have at least one) will also be around the same age)) and I live next to a highway, which is the same reason I can't go biking.. Basically, I'm looking for a sport that's intensive and not too expensive (my family's kinda poor, actually).. Most of all, I want it to be fun.

Well, thanks for reading this, cliff notes will not be given. Or maybe.. Well, okay 😛:

-I'm a fattie, but trying to do something about it. Help? 😛

if you are 6 foot and 170 lbs you are not fat... just eat healthy, turn off your computer and go do something that involves using your body.

You should see pics.. I'm really fat, actually. A lot of stomach fat.. My arms looks muscular, but it's actually a lot of fat. And I'd love to go out, but there's the 'no playing on the highway, now' and the hernia that's peeking around the corner.. 🙁

You're a 15 year old teenage male. Your caloric intake *should* be higher than an average adult male, and it's normal to feel hungry often.

My suggestion is to begin lifting weights to build some muscle. Eat healthy, but IMO there's no need for you to be counting calories at that age given your weight.

I should really, really take pics, but I think full frontal male nudity is ban-worthy, over here.. Anyway, I wanted to go to the gym, but then I found out that it's ~?75 a month. And I can't even get a job 🙁..

Do you have room in your house for a small set of free-weights?

EDIT: Just because you don't look good naked doesn't mean you're overweight. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to look better once you build some muscle tone.

When I first entered college, I was 6'3" and weighed around 170-175. After a few months in the gym, I actually gained about 15-20 lbs, but a good deal of it was from building muscle. At 190-195 lbs, I am slim by almost any measure, so I can't imagine that subtracting 3" and 20 lbs would be "fat".

something doesn't sound right here ...

first of all, 170 lbs @ 6' is not fat at all. That would actually be pretty skinny for a 6' person typically, but if you have a gut, you have a gut.

second of all, losing 10lbs in 10 days is not healthy at all.

as someone else said, you SHOULD be taking in more than average calories. just start doing some exercising such as lifting weights.

I have two 2kg dumbbells, but they basically did nothing for me.. I also tried push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups. I think they worked, but there's too much fat now to even notice.. I could have a six pack under this suit of lard, and no-one would ever know.. At least, in my current state 🙂.
Also, weights are really expensive, and like I've said, we're poor and I can't get a job 🙁.

Then, what should I go and do? I live next to a highway! I mean, I'm not gonna play football on a highway, are you? 😛

sound to me like you have some self-perception issues than physical ones.

BTW: swimming is usually cheap and a good work out or just speed walking around the neighborhood with hand/ankle weights if you don't want to jog.

Swimming is ?5 to get in.. And neighborhood.. Heh.. Let me tell you, I've been stabbed like 300 feet from my house. Seriously, if you don't have to go out, you don't. If you're on a bike or something, and you're fast, then maybe, MAYBE if you REALLY have to go.. Then again, I'm one of the few that has enough guts to bike to school every day, but that's only 2km a day..

To be honest, I'd rather not do anything in my neighborhood other than move as quickly as possible..

i should eat you to teach you a lesson. j/k grats on dedicating yourself but 6'0", 170lbs isn't "fat" for a young male by any standards. are you sure your scales are working correctly? i remember when i was 6', 180 and i looked damn good (high school). now i'm... considerably more than that. LOL

Well, if I DID go for a walk in my neighborhood, walking would quickly be transformed into running, only running would quickly be transformed in laying on the pavement, bleeding..

Just take two old milk jugs and fill them with water and lift those. Its not the amount of weight but rather the motion that will get your muscles into shape (yes the more weight the more muscle). Stretch, and keep doing situps and pushups. You already bike so that's good. Just keep doing stuff like that and it will start to make a difference. You need to realize it will not be an instant change but a gradual one that will take weeks and months to really show.

I basically have a lot of fat in the chest/stomach area. I don't know why I'm so fat yet weigh so little (relatively speaking), but I know one thing and that's that having as much fat as I do isn't healthy. 😛

Do it on google, yourself, then 🙂. Used to be ~80 kg, now ~76 kg.

I understand how 6' 170lbs can be fat. But you aren't overweight.
I have a cheapo weight bench at home I use all the time. $50 from walmart. Comes with some weights.
Birthday/Christmas, ask for one. Until then, continue eating around 1500 calories per day.
Alot of the 10lbs you have lost is probably water weight.

Until you can get weights I would do everything you can without them. Push-ups/Crunches/Jump rope...etc..etc..

How many push-ups can you do?
Could you post a pic?
