I own like 30 domains so whois security would get very expensive, but I'm thinking about it. I used to have false information but later on heard it is illegal and could get you in serious trouble including getting the domain taken away. Sucks that you have to put personal info though. .

Use the phone no. for an expired $10 sim then?
It was your number at some point in time.. say the time you filled the form.

if you have no phone line, how can they hold it against you anyway. its not illegal to not actually HAVE a phone line and own a domain now.

actually that's true...

Think I'll just caugh up the cash and get whois security. i mean now he already has my number, but it may prevent future incidents.

I can almost guarantee he's going to send some kind of mail too. At that point I'll have evidence worth of the cops.

I already called the cops but they cannot really do anything at this point given there is no evidence.

He's running a server so my guess is that server's IP is actually his home IP as the whois just shows comcast and not a data center, and I doubt he's using a bot net to host the server ON it.

I contacted his local police about it, think they would even do anything as far as investigating goes? I gave them his physical address and a picture of him so when they go to the house they can match it. I don't have much proof at this point. I'm still waiting for logs from the one who host's the vent server since he DDoSed it for a few days now.

Right now he's leaving me alone but that does not really mean he's done.

Did you say he was from the states? Which one? Some of us may be close by. . .

I SEE NOTHING!! NOOOOTHHIING!

Tip off Comcast that he's running a server? I don't remember if it's against the ToS for residential connections...

Yep alerted comcast about the server already, as well as ISPs who own other IP's he used (proxies). This guy seems to know what he's doing though. He's using Ultima Online through a proxy which means he probably wrote the proxy software for the game (none exists afaik), not that it would be that hard, but the fact that he took the time to do that is something.

So far I think I'm ahead of him, he seems to have even stopped the DDoS on vent. He's either crapping himself at the fact that I'm going the legal route, or he's planning something bigger, which me and my data center are prepared for.

As much as I'd love to post his IP, home address, and other personal info here, I'm trying to keep the case 100% legal. It's boring that way, but think it will hurt him more if it works. 😉

Should be able to ban phone numbers from calling you depending on what phone system you have. If you can't do it yourself, call your phone company and have them ban it for you on their side.

Call the local cops, ask them to send an officer. He'll see the phone ringing, get back in his cruiser, they'll call the phone company and eventually, someone's mommy is going to be very mad!

You know all the shit about setting up game server and writing scripts, but you put real info in your domain registration? Really? The only area I put in my real info when I register a domain is the billing info, which is for the domain registrar's eyes, and not public.

I got like 20 domains so figured it a waste of money to get whois security. Though I might reconsider (and no I'm not transferring all of those to another registrar)

It's also illegal to put wrong info, you can lose your domain, or so I heard.

I happen to work for the phone company so I'll talk to my boss tomorrow and see what can be done from our end, as far as tracking it down. So far it looks like I got things under control. This kid is barking up the wrong tree. And *69 did not work as it's the first thing I tried. 😉
